Please could someone tell me if there is a way to send a thank you message to the buyer when a sale is made, then a dispatch message also? I do this on the other site I am on and would like to offer it here too.
You would have to email them using the email address in the order confirmation from Folksy.
When you ship the item and mark it as shipped on your dashboard Folksy do send the buyer a shipping confirmation email.
Ah, ok thank you, not able to set up an automatic message then. Never mind, I shall just send a message with the invoice then!
Thanks for your fast reply.
You shouldnāt need to send them an invoice, unless they have had problems paying. They should have already paid via Paypal or Stripe and will have recieved a copy of the order via Folksy & payment confirmation from Paypal or stripe (you should have got these too)
It should tell you on your dashboard if they have paid.
When I get my order email I acknowledge with a thank you for your order email reply and tell the customer exactly when and how I will be posting it. This email often, 50% I think it was at the last count, triggers a lovely conversation with the customer, just as if I were selling them something over my shop counter. The personal touch. Customers like it.
I also send an āA4 invoiceā out with the order with full details of what was bought, when and how paid for. And a photoā¦ (all very useful for my records) and my full contact details and their address details too. I also add a personal thank you note to this and I also acknowledge them as repeat customers if they areā¦
My customers lke this. They know then they are not buying from Ebay or Amazon but a real person. And as well as the busness card I Always enclose they have my contact details when they want to buy something else.
I have received orders from Folksy without any acknowledgement except the automatic system email and nothing at all in the parcel. I donāt buy from that seller again.
Oh sorry, not the invoice! I meant the delivery note, I send this in the parcel.
Thank you for you detailed reply. I send all you listed in the parcel too, but will have to get into the habit of sending an email out rather than my personal automatic set up message Iāve been used to, itās a learning curve!
I use Outlook for my emails on my laptop and have an acknowledgement set up there which I include and just then need to change a few words to personailse.
I always email my customer as soon as I see the order to thank them for buying from me and to let them know when i am posting their order. Most of my customers have bought many times so I send an email then quite often have another conversation on instagram which isnāt as official
Good idea, I will do this!
Thank you, itās getting used to a new way of doing things!
I agree customers like the personal touch. But as Folksy automatically send order confirmation and despatch emails, Iām generally wary of sending extra messages - just based on my own overloaded email inbox! However, I always include the order form and a handwritten note in the parcel plus a business card.
Thank you, this is immediately what my first thought was, I absolutely try to avoid too many messages.
I do exactly as you do: hand written message on the order form. Plus my packaging hopefully makes the customer feel thought and personal touch has gone into it. Very often a customer messages/emails me after it has arrived to thank me and then I feel itās ok to chat!
I shall need to consider it carefully.
Thank you for your view!
I appreciate the thought of inbox overload too, but I do always email the customer as soon as the order comes through - or as soon as I see it - to thank them for their order and let them know when I will be posting it out. For me this is the personal maker-customer contact and like others I have always found this to trigger a conversation. I have a ācare-for-your-itemā postcard which includes the Folksy logo - which I include in the parcel and again write a thank you note on the back. I think it all helps to develop good customer relationships.
Thank you, all things to consider!
Slightly connected, do folksy send out a review request to customers, should I email them to check they received it and mention it?
Actually , can they post a review on our shop?
Yes, they can leave a review on your shop as long as they have bought something. Folksy do send a reminder to customers asking if they would like to leave a review.
Personally I would not email them myself to chase it as I wouldnāt like to receive this myself, one request from Folksy is enough.
Thanks, I was thinking that must be the case, it can be tricky getting the balance between friendliness and being pushy.
