More facebook hinderances

I’ve just been onto my facebook page, created a long post and attempted to add an image of one of my bears and a message appeared saying the photos had been used before and it wouldn’t upload so I tried again with a different bear and still it wouldn’t upload the post with my image, I gave up and scrapped the post. Has anyone else had this ?
I would love to bin facebook, my posts hardly make any reach, my local followers don’t even see the posts and say their feed is just full of adverts from businesses and pages they don’t follow but a lot of my local followers are not on instagram. When i started on fb all of my followers saw my posts, 10 years on and it’s hardly worth the effort. I can see Instagram going the same way, there have been a lot of changes recently and before long it will be time to come off them all and close shop.

I’ve not had the issue Debby, but then I rarely post on Fb, even Instagram links to an old Fb page and I can’t figure out how to change it so I don’t use that feature either.
As you say Instagram is definitely going the same way, it’s quite depressing actually, I noticed a whole raft of new features on Instagram the other day and it’s all about keeping you glued to your phone/tablet for as long as possible, some of the things I see on there are mind boggling really in there complete lack of research and understanding, some are quite dangerous yet people blindly follow, scary, but that’s another thread.
Anyway, sorry it’s giving you so many troubles and I wish I had an answer, it’s such a shame how many wonderful creatives are struggling to stay afloat these days. X

I hear you both! Ive got a couple of tricks that work some of the time for me

Facebook
Go into this page and click on Feeds

Takes you to this page where you can now see your frieds and liked pages exclusively.

Im a big believer in silencing the adverts. Click on the 3 little dots beside the big X at top right, then scroll down the page to “hide all from xxxxxxx” and click on that.

I still get phases where fb tries to swamp me with new advertisers but im more persistant than they are and have methodically got rid of them one by one. I still sometimes miss posts, but i just visit my friends pages to catch up direct.

Instagram

To avoid the noise, click on the Instagram logo at the top left.

You get this drop down menu.

Click on “following” and boom, thats all you see.

You may already know this but i had to be shown so perhaps it might help yoy

Thank you @Beesandblossoms I will try both of those today, I didn’t know about either, hopefully it will block some of the adverts at least.
I don’t know why Facebook won’t show any posts with photos I’ve used previously, There doesn’t seem to be an option to override it as I’ve clicked on everything, I will just have to keep trying but if I can’t post previously used images I will use it even less.
@PaintedHorseArt they constantly change things, I just get use to it and something new pops up, I wish they would leave them alone. It’s a shame as i really liked Instagram but I can see it’s heading
downhill like FB.

If you find the original image on fb, maybe you could save it to your phone and then pop it in the new post as a new image. That might work, as itll have none of the fb data attached. Have a go.

I had that message come up on mine last night Debby. I was so surprised as it was a hand drawn original image. My post was longer too. I left it for half an hour, went back posted the same pics but with a much shorter description and it worked. Haven’t a clue why it happened im really rubbish at FB etc xx

I do that Lois, it works wonderfully. Although in the last few days I’ve had to go through the process all over again. Which is a pain but well worth it for an ad free Facebook. I had about 3 social media free days and they seemed to sneak back in.

I don’t bother with either. Can’t be bothered with the hassle. I just stick to what I know works for my business.

I don’t like Facebook but quite enjoy Instagram, if I didn’t go on I go it I would sell anything. Do you use any social Gail?
