Sorry, just lost the whole lot, will have to start again.
Now I’m in this bit, how do I delete the greyed out bits as I don’t want to add any extra prices, I want those blank don’t I? But obviously doing something wrong as won’t let me save changes
I can’t quite see what’s in the boxes because the image won’t show any bigger, but the greyed out bits are normally blank, they’re just examples of what you put if you want to use them. Sometimes it might not save though if one of them is required and you haven’t entered anything (that’s normally with the titles/descriptions, prices aren’t required).
If you’re offering gift vouchers of different prices though, you do need to enter something in the price box or they’ll all be able to be bought for £15. If your standard listing is £15 and your second voucher is for £25, then you need to put £10 in the price box for the £25 voucher (£15 + 10 to make £25).
Ahhh, thank you, I see that bit about adding the extra £5 etc as I go along. However, the Save Changes are still greyed out. What else am I doing wrong?
Can’t make image bigger to show you unfortunately
I think you need to put something in the customer hint boxes as they don’t have ‘optional’ next to them.
Thank you Sasha and Kim, that’s done the trick! I’d assumed that the message given was adequate, didn’t realise had to write it in myself instead. It’s not the simplest thing to do but I’ll carry on with the rest of the procedure and hopefully I won’t have to mither you again. I’m just not good at this. But this is what I tell everybody - when I’ve got a problem, Folksy are there and help in simple language, not like the American bunch!
P.S. so I’ve done the new gift voucher as well as re-allocating the hardcopy version which has been in my shop for ages, but neither are showing up when I do a search for Voucher. Why is this? Is it because I’ve put my shop in holiday mode?
Yes its not showing in the search results because your shop is in holiday mode.
Just wanted to give a bit of feedback to Folksy after learning how the gift voucher system would work here in my shop. To be honest I am not encouraged to use them here on Folksy or advertise them to be used in my Folksy shop, because the customer cant redeem them here. It seems a bit pointless to me to sell them on a site with my products, but they cant be used on the same site to buy my products. Its too complicated for the end user who has to select what they want here, and then go somewhere else to place the order and follow a list of instructions etc etc. It would be ideal if on the background dashboard, we could set up our gift codes and customers could redeem them against our products directly on the Folksy site. Until we can do that I probably wont use the voucher system here because its no different than advertising my own one of social media if I am honest. Not sure what other people think?
I said something similar about this. Have put them in my shop but may hide them before I republish as agree customers are used to putting in a code, which we should be able to set up under dashboard discounts. To have to contact us to ask what they want, then post them off seems a bit like selling out the back of a car.
A question - what happens if a customer who received a voucher wants to buy an item with a higher price than the value of the voucher? Is there a way for them to pay the difference with a card / Paypal?
Thanks!
Natalia
I’d simply edit the price of the item they want on Folksy.
So if someone has a £20 voucher and wants to buy a £50 painting from me, I’d put a sale price of £30, edit the title to start “Reserved”, and maybe put a note at the top of the description saying “£20 voucher applied”.
Then send them the link to the item to buy it.
that’s a good idea, thanks!
Yes that’s what I did in the end!
Totally agree.
I’m just setting up my first gift voucher listing having found this thread via search and I thought it might be most helpful to others if I posted a question I have on it so that they can see this too - hope it’s okay to pull back up an old thread!
My question is, what tags do people use for these listings? Voucher and gift voucher are obvious, but what else? Do people add things like “hard to buy for”, “last minute gift” etc.?
