New to Folksy (moving shop from Etsy)

Hello! I’m new here on Folksy and still finding my way around but it seems like a super welcoming community you have here  My name is Addison and I make jewellery and homewares.

I’ve had a shop on Etsy for a few years so I have some experience already but it’s always daunting using a new platform. Slowly piecing my shop together and reviewing the listings I imported from there. Any critique/feedback you have for the shop so far is very welcome.

I’ve been reading as much as I can in the help guides and forum to see how things work but it’s a lot to take in at once. Are there others who’ve made the switch from Etsy to Folksy? Any tips?

No experience of Etsy but I have found the Folksy community to be just lovely. Welcome to Folksy, your shop is lovely and colourful!

Welcome from over the dark side. Your products are so cheerful.

One thing fill out the about section as people love to buy from people and to find out about all you.

Enjoy!

Ooh okay, hopefully you can help me here. In my dashboard I have the reminder to fill out the About section…but when I click on it, it looks like I’ve already filled it out. Where does it normally appear publicly?

Thanks for your help. I’ve realised it’s because I haven’t added a picture, just filled in the text boxes. Will need to find a suitable pic now!

Welcome to Folksy - love your shop already

Thanks for the welcome everyone! and I finally got my About section completed and appearing on my shop so hopefully it’s looking better now

Hello and welcome! I have both a E—- and a Folksy shop, but really love the community on Folksy!!

The about section is at the bottom of your main shop page I think!

The community here is so much more supportive! and there’s actual customer service/support available for sellers. That’s the main difference I’ve noticed so far. I was stunned when I got an email reply from support same day :joy: what a change from E****

I recently opened my Folksy shop and so far so good! I’ve still got my Etsy shop but I’ve never been very successful on Etsy - I’m not sure Etsy is the right place for selling ‘Art’. Folksy is a very friendly community and certainly more ‘artist friendly’. I have made a sale after a month on Folksy so it’s all looking very encouraging and I think it may well become my primary platform. Everything is still a bit strange and, like you, I find it difficult to take everything in but I’m sure we’ll get used to it soon. As I’m also a ‘newbie’ I’ve no tips but I will certainly be giving Folksy plenty of time to see what happens. Good luck with your new shop and fingers crossed for the future.
