Hi all,
I have 88 listings that are very successful on other platforms, but no sales on Folksy?
Have I got something wrong here?
Thanks
I just looked at your shop and can’t see any links to Social Media…
To be successful on here you need to tell people where to find you, which means regular promotion on Social media such as Facebook, Instagram etc.
It’s probably more what you haven’t done… are you promoting your Folksy shop along with your other outlets? Networking with other sellers? Participating in community cross-promotions like Folksy Friday? All of these will help to bring views (and hopefully sales as well) but this site doesn’t have a huge amount of built-in traffic like certain other selling platforms, so it’s harder to get momentum going. At least that’s been my experience so far (although I’ve only been on Folksy since last October).
Hi LooneySpoons and KBCreations
You may ne right, our other outlets are the usual suspects, and we get great traffic and sales from them, not least our own website. I think that I was expecting the same here. I will have to look at promoting, however I would rather have sales on our own site ( through facebook ect ) if that makes sense due to the costings being cheaper.
Found you on etsy and you are using exactly the same descriptions on there as you are on here - this is a big no no as far as google/ search engines are concerned as they think the duplicate pages are spam and don’t show them in search results. Folksy doesn’t have the same browsing customer base that etsy does so you need to maximise your chances of google showing you in its search results…
Your Warhorse Mounted Soldier Silhouette figure has three tags. You need to use all your tags and think as a buyer would for what you need to use as tags. Equine Silhouette. Horse Cut Out. MDF Cutout War Horse. Mounted MDF 3mm Soldier on Horse etc.
Folksy allows for tags to be quite lengthy so use them.
Hi All, thank for the advice. I have over a 100 items to list, and spending time changing the description is not really going to be an option, but I appreciate the info. If as you say that having multiple platforms showing the same description is a no no for the search engines, then I guess closing my account here would help the listings elsewhere. I still have good sales on other platforms, but was hoping to get more by casting my net wider and using Folksy, but it doesnt seem to have worked out that way. I wish you all the best of luck.
