Many of the items in my shop are listed at £20 plus £2 p&p. Up until now I have always paid 95p in paypal fees but on a transaction that went through yesterday I was charged £1.04. I am curious - did I miss a fee increase or do the fees go up after you have taken a certain amount or could it just be an error. I have emailed paypal but while I wait for an answer I wondered if anyone could shed any light on this for me.
The fees do vary depending on where the buyer is located, was it an international sale?
It’s generally 3.4% +the fixed fee of 20p but cross border and currency conversions are 3.8% plus the fixed fee which would account for the £1.04 you were charged.
No it was a UK sale so can’t see why it should be more than 95p
Nothing to do with Paypal but thank you @Rozcraftz for the reminder.
Just bulk edited all my £3.20 postage listings to £3.30.
Joy xx
Just phoned paypal - apparently although it was UK sale it was paid for using a foreign paypal account so was extra charge. Was worth ringing them though as they refunded the whole fee not just the extra bit so I ended up £1 better off! All good - thanks for your responses.
Nice one paypal. They tend to have really good customer service over the phone
