Pictures with / without frame option

Hi

I’m just starting out & wondered if it’s possible to give customers the option to buy a picture with or without a frame in one listing? I’m mindful that some people may want to just buy the picture on its own to save money & lower postage costs.

I create needle felted pictures so could send them on mountboard without a frame & possibly letterbox sized. Less stressful than sending a glass framed piece!

Any advice would be great!!

Thanks

Jo

Sounds a very sensible idea to me!

Hi Jo, I think that’s a really good idea to give customers the choice. Yes you can give them the option in one listing if you use the options menu. If I remember correctly you do the listing and then save it then go into add options where you’d add with frame or without plus the price for the additional frame. I think that’s right! Good luck with your shop,

Here’s the instructions on how to add variations

As someone who ties her somewhat eclectic art collection together by using the same type of frame on all of them the option to buy art without a frame is always a good one.

Thanks everyone! I’ll have a read through, unsure which way round to list it though, picture inc frame with the variation of having it without?

I would do it the other way round. Then the Option will have the extra cost added for the frame.

I’ve just watched the video so I’m going to see how it goes!!

I would just offer unframed, but mounted , also make sure the mount is a standard size, so the customer can get a standard size frame off the shelf. When I had my picture framing business and working with artist and crafters, I would try to get them to use standard sze mounts to sell their work in, so their customers would find it easier to find a frame. I used to sell 100’s of standard size mounts online in my shop and on ebay.

That sounds like a great idea, then at least your customers have the option. They could already have a favourite frame and looking for something lovely to put in it. x

Thanks that’s really helpful, just out of interest what sizes were the most popular? At the moment I’m stitching them on to the board I’ve trimmed to size so I think I’ll look at creating pieces with that in mind. Really helpful info which I hadn’t really considered before now :+1:t2:

I usually offer the option of framed or unframed. Works well with sales split evenly between the two options. Selling without a frame makes items easier to post too.
