Pinterest latest

Has anyone had the new newsletter from Pinterest an interesting read particularly about searches. That customers prefer visual than search words.
I am starting to load my catalogue of newly listed items on between Christmas and the New Year.

Interesting. How did you claim your website though, as it is a requirement, and as far as I know we cannot claim the Folksy shop. Would a website that hasn’t got the shop function be ok for that? Need to look into it for sure!

Whoops!! I deleted pinterest emails this morning without reading.

Thanks for sharing

My pinterest is just under my business name but the links I use are to my Folksy shop, I’m sure mine is down as my Folksy link or is this something completely different, I don’t have a website of my own.

I do the same, have the business page but folksy links. But if you click on “create catalogue”, it says you need to claim your website. On the info for claiming your website it says “To claim a website, you must own the domain, subdomain or subpath, and you need to be able to edit the source code. As a result, you’re unable to claim most social accounts and online shops hosted on marketplaces such as Etsy, eBay and Amazon.” .

So I assume Folksy could claim their website and have catalogues, but folksy shops cannot.

Also, another requirement is to “Have a website that meets our merchant guidelines (with easy-to-find contact details, delivery policy and refund policy)”.

And that, I think it means a proper shop page, as on a page that you simply showcase your products without the “shop” feature, you wouldn’t put delivery and refund policy (I might be wrong here though).

Ah OK, its a bit above my understanding to be honest, I own my domain name but obviously not the Folksy one only my business name. I don’t know what is meant by the source code but by the sounds if it we can’t do it. thank you

If you do have a website, it needs to be 9 months old, before you can use the catalogue feature.

I have just started to set up a basic website. Bought my domain name. Using it as a gallery with direct link to Folksy. Got to do something to increase sales.

Who did you decide on Caroline?

I think I might go with create net as recommended by one of the folksy sellers, it’s a paid subscription around £220 but looks really smart, also there are no commission fees on sales. I havn’t finished looking through all the suggestions and options yet but so far I like this one. My only concern is that no matter how I try I will only be able to create 3 or 4 items per month so will never have huge amounts to put on which then makes me think the fee is quite a lump to pay out on top of insurances etc before I even sell anything. My expected income will always be capped at x amount because of the time they take to make. I go around in circles in my head with it all and get nowhere.

Website.com. Got a free gallery website as bought the domain name from them $5.66 dollars for a year. Able to add direct links to Folksy and images. Not selling through them but thought worth a go for a year as another form of advertising can eventually add to Pinterest. Not published yet but set up ready, need some more images to sort out. Have to use an app to change from Avif to Jpg but got bored.

Thank you Caroline, I’m Planning to set it up after Christmas, I already have my domain name I buy it through 123 reg, I can use it with most of the website creators. The one I mentioned includes a shopping cart but might look at their cheaper option and direct it to Folksy instead, it will depend on the rest of the spec. I hope I don’t need to change photos and things or I will get flustered and never do it, I don’t like tech stuff.

Sorry I know I’ve gone off topic from the original pinterest post. .

I use an app to change from avif to jog, easy just drag 5 at a time, converts and downloads. Also use IloveIMG, does loads of things to photos and again easy and free.

I wouldn’t know where to start, I take photos on my iPhone then edit in Google photos so I can use them on all devices, I can use Adobe to make collages but tried canva again last night and threw the towel in, if building a website requires anything more I am stuffed Caroline  but I will know where and who to come to now if I need help.

Take the photo on your iPhone, open the ilove website, upload choosing the section you want, convert, download direct to your iPhone. I take images on the iPhone changing the perspective to photograph as a square, check on photos then just upload to Folksy.

You can upload the image to Website direct from your phone. Will send you a link to my webpage when I go live on the 1st. You can see what I have done and always happy to FaceTime you to talk you through.

You only have to convert avif images if you copy from Folksy.

Thank you Caroline, I look forward to seeing yours when you go live. I don’t usually share from Folksy pics I do it from Google photos so might not have to convert them yet but I will keep a note of what you have done just in case.
