I know this is probably very obvious, but when I go onto your Pinterest, how do I know which jewellery is yours and which is other jewellery that you have pinned? I find Pinterest hard to navigate!
I’ve now also created a business page, though still trying to fathom it out! Don’t really use the personal one too much but giving it a go for now.
Have followed everyone on that one now, if I’ve missed anyone let me know.
Guessing I will just add another board to my page to save items from your pages and others, same as personal page?
Anyway… this is my new page as it stand at the moment…
No question is too obvious to be asked Kirsty. I am sorry but I haven’t yet had time to add a board for my own shop makes. I think that if you go the All Pins section under saved then you will find my pieces after those that are from Dee’s board. I will endeavour to set up a board for my pieces only in the next week. I hope that helps.
I will have another look, nothing to apologise for, I just thought I was missing something!
Experimenting with my own board, Kirsty, If I click on ‘Saved’ then I see my boards, and i have named them so it’s really clear which are mine and which are other people’s work. If I click on ‘created’ instead, I just see a whole lot of pins which are not mine.
Morning all. Thanks so much for joining in! I’ve just been through the new folks & pinned a few things.
Helen @HelenSmith sadly it did all change this year, hence the experimenting to see what they now want of us! I’ve been doing a bit more reading & it seems really mixed with the supposed ‘experts’ all giving different advice! Some say to just have your own items pinned & keep it really curated, some say it’s good to show your other interests.
I’m going to keep going with what I’ve got, a least for a bit until I can see what impact it’s having. I’m hoping that as all my other boards are collections of handmade items then it won’t be too confusing for the algorithm - anything completely random I will just make private.
Thanks Dee - I shall investigate. I have loads of private boards for random things, but some of my public boards are very old, I probably need to have a tidy up.
I’d be surprised if they don’t want you to show other stuff, that has always been a really strong theme for pinterest. I think, if you’re creating pins it should only be your own stuff and then that shows up on your profile (from a copyright point of view that seems right to me anyway regardless of pinterest rules). But it’s going to get pretty boring if that’s all you pin? So surely you can still pin and repin other people’s stuff and have it show in the ‘saved’ section.
It does look as if they are cracking down a bit on copyright with the new ‘claim your content’ thing which allows people to request an image be removed wherever it is pinned.
I’d just like to have a way to assert ownership of all my ancient images that people have pinned from Flickr!
This has been really helpful, thank you everyone.
Today I tried looking at my Business page Analytics, to see if that tells me anything at all. And actually, it seemed to be completely 0 for everything… Until I clicked ‘Include Saved Pins’, right at the bottom of the ‘filters’ panel, when the stats suddenly appeared.
Now I can see them, I can work out if they are helpful at all…
… and the answer is - something happened on 18 June to send my graph shooting up - oh, it was this thread…!
Morning!
Helen @HelenSmith yes that’s what I was thinking, needs a bit of variety in there so I’m going to stick with what I’m doing for now. That’s crazy about Flickr that people are pinning from there without you getting credit! It’s one thing that worries me about Pinterest - I’m trying to make sure all my new pins have a watermark or my logo so there’s at least some way of them being linked back to me.
Helen @HelenCliffordArt - glad to see the stats are improving! When you are pinning your own work, do you use the pin button from Folksy? If you create your pins from Pinterest then those will be in listed under ‘your pins’ & you’ll hopefully get more useful stats just showing your own work. This is one of the things that changed recently - I have a huge board with all of my work pinned from the Folksy listing, but those don’t actually register as ‘my’ pins anymore. I hope that makes sense but just shout if not!
I pinned all my items using the Folksy pin in the beginning, and there’s a lot of them so I don’t really want to recreate them. When I put up new items I will remember to make the pins manually.
My stats look like that too Helen @HelenCliffordArt
So … how would we manage a ‘Repin from Pinterest from the person above you’ thread? Without making it too much trouble for the next person to find our own pins?
Maybe like this:
I have pinned these beautiful earrings from @ChrisOsbornJewellery
My boards are at https://www.pinterest.co.uk/helencliffordart/_saved/
Obviously we have to be careful we pick a pin which actually links back to Folksy, rather than anywhere else (!)
Would this work?
Helen I think that is ideal. I will carry on the format and if anyone needs to tweak it, they can.
I have pinned this
to my Art board.
My board is here:
Morning folks! Yes, this seems a good set up - we can try it for a week, check the stats & if it works I can always set up a new thread with instructions at the top.
So, I have pinned this beauty to my quilts & blankets board…
Here’s mine…
Trying this out…

I have saved your paper cut art butterfly to my Art board Helen @HelenCliffordArt . I have no idea how to get Pinterest details copied into this thread. If you do go a head with a new thread Dee @OrukiDesign could you include how to do this in the instructions please.
My boards are here https://www.pinterest.co.uk/chrisosbornjewellery/_saved/
I pinned this beautiful bracelet
Angela.
Thank you for pinning one of my bangles.
I truly do not understand pinterest & think I need to take myself off for an hour or so to try & master it .
