Hi Shirley and welcome to Folksy! You have some beautiful and very detailed pieces in your shop. Just wondering what OOAK stands for, in relation to your jewellery? :slightly_smiling_face:

Your Wizard of Oz bracelet breaks copyright laws. WofO is owned by Warner Bros and you are illegally selling. You do have to be careful, particularly with Disney who make a point of suing small traders like yourself.

Hello there OOAK stands for One Of a kind.

How should I title the piece? Or should I just remove it. I’ve sold WoOz inspired pieces before & there hasn’t been a problem.
Thank you.

I wonder if admin could help me here?
Apparently Disney doesn’t own the rights, Warner bros own rights to the film but not the books!

I don’t mean to burst your bubble, it’s just a fact that certain big industries protect their copyright strenuously including Disney and Warner Bros. All it takes is someone to report you. You cannot use any copyright wording or imagery or likeness at all.

Hello Shirley and welcome to Folksy and the forums. I’ve been here about 18 months and was completely befuddled by everything but I think now I’m getting the hang of it. Good luck with your shop and if you need help someone here is always willing to assist.

Thank you so much Hillary that’s much appreciated. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Why did you choose the name pirateswag? Just curious, because it may suggest to some that you’ve pirated everything you’re selling from other makers.

I used to play a game on Facebook called sorority life & my avatar name was Pirate Kitty. I met people from all over the world on line & discussed re opening a shop for my jewellery & they suggested Pirate Swag.
I’ve held the name for 20 years & would like to keep it. Although connotations may have changed over the years.

Oh that surprises me Julie, you’re the first person who has ever said that in 16 years of me trading under Pirate Swag.
I feel a bit sad!

Perhaps this isn’t the forum for me!

Your shop name makes me think of treasure and chests of sparkling jems. I hope you stay because it’s definitely a forum for everyone

Shirley @pirateswag please do stay.
That comment was totally uncalled for in my opinion and I think you’ll find pretty much every photo here is digital since we probably all use phones, tablets and digital cameras in this day and age. I doubt there’s anyone taking product photos with a film camera. As @Macclesfieldbagworks says, the name Pirate Swag makes me think of a bit of a treasure trove so you carry on doing what you’re doing
