Thank you, yes that is the general idea it all fitted together when choosing a name.
I maybe over sensitive atm from lack of sleep. I will see how I go it takes me time to navigate the platform.
Thank you Carol, just finding it difficult atm.
Thanks so much for your help. ![]()
Thank you, just taken aback a bit!
I’m sorry, I clearly offended you, and various others on here too. I didn’t word it correctly. I am very wary of online shops that call themselves pirate anything, although I get why you chose the name. If it was a physical shop that’s different. My comment about the photos was about the fact that there’s only 1 photo of each piece of jewellery and they look like a digital render more than an actual photo. Maybe it’s because of the background style you’ve chosen. When customers are in a physical shop they can see items from all angles and see the whole piece, including fasteners and all the different elements. That’s all I meant about your photos. Your jewellery looks lovely. I’d just want to see a few more photos of each piece, that’s all.
Hi Shirley @pirateswag welcome to Folksy, I think your shop name is a good metaphor for a treasure trove. I’m still a bit of a newbie and still trying to find their way around the site
, don’t leave just take it one day at time

Shirley @pirateswag … I love your style of jewellery…and love dangly bits and fantasy stuff… When you list something, you can show it on any of the threads ( although don’t forget the challenge thread is a challenge and hard work but worth it ) there are threads for knitting and crochet and ones for jewellery and other’s for colours. There are also ones where you like an item in the shop above your one on the list and ones for the next letter in the alphabet…in fact you can make up your own thread for other people to join in.
The more people who look in your shop, the better chance of sales. There are also themes of the day ( found on your dashboard) where you can list any item in your shop that fits in with the theme …For that one you must tag your item with the right tag and it will appear on the front page…stardom !!..the more you get seen the more sales you get. …Keep listing in your shop…the more items, the more sales… If you have the plus account , there are other benefits too, like being able to rearrange your items and move them around and feature your favourites.
Everyone here is lovely and there is always help if you ask for it.xx
Hi @pirateswag Shirley, great to see you on Folksy. I don’t post much on the forum anymore, but wanted to pop by and say hi. Love your name and I’ve purchased from you before - super happy with all I’ve bought x
Thank you for your apology it did take me back & upset me & as a newbie on here & an absolute tech dinosaur, I’m taking my time to navigate the forum. I previously sold on Etsy & had no problem with people thinking I’d stolen others work! Also sold on Facebook with no problems.
Actually I also thought I had filled out the ‘about’ & didn’t really think I needed to explain why I chose the name. I make jewellery which go in a treasure chest!
I’m probably over sensitive atm through lake of sleep. I hope I feel better tomorrow.
Thank you, I’ll take my time but I will get there. ![]()
Lack of sleep, don’t even get me started. I have a young adult autistic son with complex needs and rarely get more than 5 hours’ sleep a night, and that’s been the case for so many years now I’ve lost count.
I’m also a dinosaur when it comes to technology, social media, the whole works - just not how my brain is wired.
I am truly sorry for upsetting you, I was just speaking my thoughts out loud on looking at your shop. Mine’s by no means perfect, so please don’t take offence. They’re just observations, which customers who don’t know you and haven’t shopped from you before might also have.
Sometimes it’s just nice to know the origins of names of shops, and yours is quite a good story as it wasn’t randomly chosen. And it’s nice to see more than one photo of pieces. Personally, I would never have the patience or hours to produce the bracelets you’re making, with so many elements to them, and my hat goes off to you. I am always fascinated by pieces like this and like to see different photos to marvel at all the intricacies of each piece. They deserve to be highlighted as you clearly put a lot of time and effort into each one.
Incidentally, I bought my wedding ring from a shop called Swag many moons ago. That place was a veritable treasure chest/Aladdin’s Cave.
I hope you do really well on here. As for me? I’m just going to crawl away to a dark room and hibernate now. Best for everyone I think.
Thanks Brenda I have looked at them but find them a bit confusing where to actually post & reply. I find it easier replying on my phone! I did post something yesterday. But I will partake whe I can get my head around to all. Thank you.
Thank you Sarah that’s very kind of you.
Oh bless you Julie, I used to work with autistic children & know how challenging they can be. I’ll be fine tomorrow after a good nights sleep.
Was that in a school or another setting? Yes, lots of challenges, every day, but an equal amount of wonderful moments to treasure too.
Welcome Shirley @pirateswag I think you’re jewellery is gorgeous and the shop looks nice, the bracelets are right up my street, particularly the wiccan and spiritual bracelets. The advice I had was to have more products in my shop, keep on eye on ‘theme of the day’ on your dashboard and tag appropriately to promote a product. Tags and titles etc are really important and there are helpful articles on this subject. You will find your way around eventually and the best of luck with your shop.
B x
Thank you for that sound advice. ![]()
I was a special needs TA in a previous life. ![]()
Very important role, and challenging and rewarding in equal measure I would imagine. My sister was a special needs TA for 10 years.
I just visited your Facebook page and was taken aback to see that you’d posted about my comment about the name of your shop. For the record, I never inferred you might be copying other people’s work, I simply stated my thought that some people might think that, and I am very cautious about such names, for lots of reasons. I have since apologised, and my apology was sincere, and I tried to explain why I’d made the comments. It’s clear I should have kept my thoughts to myself. I am not evil, vindictive, a troll or any of the other things your followers have said about me. I have my own mental health difficulties, which is not an excuse. But I have never been vindictive or any of those other horrible things people are saying about me. I now just feel even more like topping myself than I already did, this being the absolute worst year I’ve had in my life for various reasons and Christmas making it even harder. Once again, I am very sorry. I won’t be coming on the forum anymore.
Don’t leave the forum, Julie @ChocolimeAndSunshine. That would be such a shame when you have done nothing wrong . There are so many friendly, lovely, kind people on here, it would be horrible to think that some cruel people who know nothing about the situation and arent even on Folksy had driven you away. They are the losers, not you, so don’t let them win.
