Thank you Caroline. I had missed it.
I’d missed this too. Just had a look for the details and it looks like there will be a strike affecting crown post office branches ie the branches operated by the post office not franchise branches, on the 11th July. Then Royal Mail managers will strike 20-22 July - no indication of what the impact of that will be on deliveries and collections, you’ll probably be able to post items at post offices but they won’t be picked up by RM until after the strike and there won’t be any deliveries in that time frame.
Oh thank you for the news, I have not heard of this latest strike.
Will be seeing my Postie today so will ask him if it affects deliveries or not. Will let you know later.
Thank you sooo much - I’d got no idea!
(Also, dammit )
Oh, well, couriers it is for those dates.
Thank you. Missed this one. Duley noted in calendar.
Okay, finally got hold of our Postie. It is everyone management and deliveries. However round here they have all said no to strike action. However, the main problem will be the sorting offices round the country, particularly in cities. Mail could build up etc.
I have decided to keep open but warn customers that delivery may be delayed.
The strike only impacts one group of managers, not the remainder of delivery and sorting/delivery office staff, or other ‘managers’ and there are contingency plans in place for the majority of sites (my husband works for RM HO) which should allow the core work to continue during the work to rule and actual strike. There is a really useful page here which always gives status updates, I’ve used it extensively over the last few years as with Covid individual DOs can drop quite quickly if they have multiple cases, and that is updated regularly and will be during the action (it’s one of the things the managers being dropped in from other areas to cover have to do!!). I’ve on occasion sent it to customers to point out that their local DO is struggling - as you’ve said a polite reminder on sending though is a really good idea! Look at ‘Movement of Mail through our networks’ for any mail areas which didn’t bring mail into or through the network on target Service Updates from Royal Mail today and below it ‘Deliveries today’ for the actual delivery side. I’m not saying it won’t impact, it’s bound to, but compared to the posties themselves striking…
