Hi,
This is my first time posting so apologies if in wrong place but I have been thinking about reopening my folksy shop but I will struggle getting to a post office while virus is on.Therefore I wondered how to go about using pre paid postage from the post office but unsure how it works, for example do you have to weigh your postage? and if so what type of scales do you use etc?
Thanks
Hi Nick
Go to the Royal Mail website, you do not have to sign for an account. Get a price then enter the weight, size selection. This gives a price which you can the buy online using your PayPal account. Enter the address then yours, then download the label to print.
You can also do it directly on the Royal Mail website. https://parcel.royalmail.com/orders/quick-delivery/
I usually get my sold items, plus any packaging and weigh them on my kitchen scales (digital). You then fill in the weight (I often add 5 - 10g just to be on the safe side) and size of the package (large letter/small parcel etc…) then the recipient’s name and address, your name and address and then you pay for your postage and download a label to attach to your parcel. I hadn’t used the service before lockdown, but have used it a number of times in the last week and found it really easy.
I use an ordinary set of digital kitchen scales to weigh, and a sizer/ruler that I bought at the Post Office to check the size and thickness of letters. If the customer has paid with Paypal, I go to PayPal and print my postage, I find it easy and also easy to look back at the transactions. Then I just drop into the post box or into a parcel posting box.
Thanks everyone, I have re opened my shop and give it a go
