Promoting Folksy by Boosting SM Reach

@thecrimsonrabbit It was mentioned about using #folksy5aday in the original thread where we discussed trying this thread. I know a couple of us used it today

@thecrimsonrabbit Yes, if you want to add/search a specific hashtag to make the posts easier to find, use #folksy5aday (as this one had been suggested on the other thread). I’ve added it to the original post as well, although how helpful it is may depend on which platform you’re using.

@CrochetandI It’s up to you if you want to share your posts from all platforms to give people more options, or just one if maybe you particularly want to boost the reach on a certain platform (because the other might already be performing well).

@kernowclaire The share buttons were removed because they were slowing down the page load times (which as well as potentially annoying impatient shoppers, is bad for SEO) and they could be a bit unreliable at times. Some browsers now include share options as part of the browser (particularly on mobiles) or you can also download extensions to do this. Your exact options may depend on which device and browser you’re using, but for example on Chrome you can use the AddToAny extension which gives share options for a range of platforms (AddToAny: Share Anywhere - Chrome Web Store)

@NorthernSilversmith Well done on your first sale! :tada:

@PaintedHorseArt Unfortunately step by step instructions aren’t always the simplest when Instagram changes things so often, especially as they seem to change accounts in batches so the view won’t always be exactly the same for everyone (such as last week I seemed to be in a worrying test where the ā€œmost recentā€ part of the hashtag search disappeared!)

Also just to note, the insights on our Facebook post we shared here are about double from when I first posted this thread. Obviously it’s likely some more people will have seen it anyway as the day went on, but it’s a good sign.

Me too, I always naively thought social media was about being social, I know I’m old fashioned.

This is my only share option, which is fabulous if you assume everyone has a QR code reader…….

If you have a mobile phone, mine is just Android not Apple, with a camera, you have a QR reader.

I would expect Apple will have it, I’ve never tried

@PaintedHorseArt’s link is Painted Horse Art on Instagram: "Happy sunny Sunday all, here’s a wee reel of my latest card, boat, original watercolour similar to the last one I painted but landscape this time, plus a sneak peek of another new card I’ve painted. I thought this little boat would make a nice Father’s Day card, or it could just be framed as a sweet little bit of bathroom art. Find me and my little artworks on folksy (link in bio). . . . #newonfolksy #folksyhq #folksyseller #folksyeastmidlands #folksyfinds #folksyshop" for anyone that can’t scan the code.

As it sounds like you’re on the Apple version of the app, again exact details can be a little different from the Android version, so unless you can post a screenshot of the options you get, we might have to wait to see if anyone else with Apple can help.

Thank you, this is a screen shot on my IPad just now,

It also says Delete under where the QR code but is. So if there is anything I’m missing I’d love if someone can point out the obvious please.

Hi ya, I’ve got an iPhone and if you point the camera at a QR code it brings up a box around it which you click on to see the link.

Cheers Lou

Here’s a screen shot of the QR code from my iPhone - just in the normal camera app,

From there click where it says instagram & it takes you to the video by @PaintedHorseArt, hope this helps.

@PaintedHorseArt Ah yes, that’s quite a different layout to mine with some slightly different options and order.
For one account, I’ve got a link symbol (two semi circles with a line in the middle to look like a chain) in a circle above the list (where your save and remix options are). I’ve just noticed on my other account it’s updated to the new version that @thecrimsonrabbit mentioned, where you need to click on the send icon (paper plane) below the photo, and then the link icon is at the bottom of the options that come up.

Do you have it there?

I’ll try that tomorrow when I do my next post. Thank you.
