Raffia Place Mats

Hello. I hope you’re all doing well and keeping busy. My Auntie has asked me if I know of anyone who makes hand woven place mats. She mentioned such as the raffia ones, but I think she’s also open to other materials being used. I’ve done a quick product search and I have only found 2, which I’ll send her the links to, but I’m sure there must be more of you on here so please can you hit me with your products so I can recommend a selection of different ideas to her?

Many thanks, Helen

@ccbandatp could you weave place mats out of rushes or similar?

Hello Sasha - thank you for your enquiry. I currently have round table mats in stock - approx 10” in diameter. I am currently away from home - and have been most of the year caring for my mother - but will be travelling back to Cornwall on Wednesday :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers: hopefully for the last time this year :pray::pray:. If you had other shapes/sizes in mind let me know. :grinning:

Thank you for this, yours was one of the ones I have found and already identified to send a link to my Auntie, but thanks for the clarification on when you’ll be available. Kind regards, Helen

Thanks for your interest Helen. I can make other shapes eg rectangular or oval but round ones have always proved more popular.

Thank you @SashaGarrett for tagging me for this :grinning:

If your Aunt is open to other materials and techniques, I can hand knit placemants (and coasters)…

I also just found this awesome tutorial on making them using plastic canvas and they look SO good! Not sure if @BelaFarCrafts might be interested in trying these out?
