I just noticed an update on the Folksy Sellers Instagram about some new changes they’ve made to search so I thought I’d give it a test.
I’ve just searched for several items and the search results were just what I’d hope for! I searched for Badger Painting and got lots of Badger Paintings and I searched for Soap Dish and got lots of Soap Dishes - hurrah!
If you haven’t yet, you might want to give it a whirl and see what you think
P.S. just did a search for “gift for photographer” and got a completely random mix of non photography items Although perhaps that was because there weren’t many gifts for photographers beyond the first couple of relevant items…?
We’re so pleased you’re happy with the changes we’ve made. It’s an evolving project so we’ll be continuing to tweak and improve the browsing experience but it definitely has been working really well since the update.

It is totally beyond me to explain why my kingfisher which has KINGFISHER as the first name in the title didn’t come up until the 4th page of search and as you
can see in the 3 surrounding listings is the only one which actually has KINGFISHER in prime position. It’s not there now as I have removed it from stock as sold elsewhere but this is where it was.
I have still to see any improvement in the search at all unless it prevents things from my well stocked shop appearing until after everyone after else’s .
I do have 2 other kingfishers but only ever get one per page while other sellers have them positively clumped together. So what on earth are the criteria currently in play ?

I’ve just done a search for a particular item, the first 34 results were spot on, then there were several completely irrelevant items, then a lot more relevant items… so it looks like search still has some glitches.
I honestly cannot explain why my quite specific kingfisher which had it first in the title, at the top of the description and as a tag was half way down the 4th page. It had also been relisted within the last few days.
Hmmm… Camel. Camelia and Camellia have come before my camel brooch and a few other camels from elsewhere. Not far down as obviously there aren’t too many of them but still. Otherwise, I’m seeing an improvement with other searches and not as many random irrelevant entries popping up.
You will never find a camel from me. Made one for a commission once (customer had adopted one., don’t ask ). I hated it. It was boring camel coloured with fragile legs and having ridden on a couple, one named Spitting Sid ) I would never make another.
I’ve been asked for capybaras, possums, guinea pigs, red kites, you name it, camels are quite ordinary after all of those! I don’t get the attraction either!
Here it is . I made it in my first year so please don’t notice the not too professional finish… and nowadays i refuse to do legs like that as it makes it too fragile.. Eeek I just looked and it was 'orrible
