I am trying to arrange Royal Mail Collection online in the usual way and after entering all the details of where I am and where the package is going I get a message telling me that the free collection service is not available at the moment but that I can drop off the parcel at a post office. That’s all very well but that involves a drive of ten miles round trip for me which is a pain. Anyone else had this problem today? Is it temporary?
Im not sure but Ive struggled to even get onto the click and drop website this morning, seemed like the site was down for a while, maybe it’s just a temporary glitch but it doesn’t bode well for the future, especially now so many local post offices have closed or are about too.
Thanks for your reply. When I click on ‘arrange a collection’ I get the following:
Sorry, collections cannot be arranged right now. This service will be available again shortly, so please try again later.
I will keep trying, but it’s obviously not just in my area but a general no go situation.
I hope they don’t stop this service. My local post office closed and during their opening hours hubby has the car at work so I can’t get anywhere else.
I arranged a collection yesterday for today, Postie collected and took the sale I made today. Today like you could not book a collection.

The problem seems to be with the website, not the service itself. It is the ability to book the collection online that is not functioning. Hopefully their tech people are sorting it out as they will be losing money by the online service not operating so they have a big incentive to sort it out quickly!
They closed it down before as they had too many parcels to collect and not enough Posties.
It’s now 1840 and the website service is back up and running and I have managed to arrange collection for tomorrow. Hurrah! They must have managed to get enough sealing wax, string and rubber bands to get the website mechanism working!
