Brilliant! Thanks so much for flagging this up. And to take us right through Christmas too - what’s got into them?!

I think they are worried people may go back to Evri, aka MyHermes. Tbh posties should be delivering every day so to offer free collection is not that hard.

and it says LETTERS too x

I thought that Brenda but not sure as when you go to the link only mentions parcels.

They should do it on a permanent basis. The posties in the US collect from their mail boxes outside their houses. My US friend has a box with a little flag and when she has mail to be collected, she puts the little flag to be visible so that the postie knows there is mail to be collected. The royal mail email (I got one too) says that you have to buy the postage online, so you cannot stick stamps on…but that is OK…(I only worry that my printer might throw a wobble…lol)

Thanks Caroline

They offer the option of printing the label for you at the sorting office, and they stick it on when they come to collect. No extra charge, so even if your printer has thrown its teddy out you could still use the service. You just have to choose that option of preprinted label during the ordering process.

Does anyone know how quickly they come and collect? I’m not sure I would use this on a regular basis as the walk to the drop box or post office does me good, but could be really useful now and then.

You book when you want collected, ours normally does everyday apart from Sunday.

As Caroline said, you choose a date which also gives a time slot, when you book online. I have never had any problem getting a collection the next day, and the time slot is always our usual postie’s delivery time with our normal mail, as collections are made by your usual post person when he/she is doing the normal round. You can do the booking online at any time, for example you can book on Sunday for collection on Monday. As I’m in a rural area with a drive to a post office this service has been an absolute breakthrough for me.

It is letters too. I did it yesterday, the only thing that annoys me about it slightly is that as I live literally a five minute walk from the post office I don’t want or need it, but I couldn’t find an option anywhere to say I didn’t want it.
They came and picked it up next day, where ordinarily I would have had it the post same day.
Horses for courses of course, must be a godsend to those who have to drive to the PO as a rule.

When I go to RM go through the weight etc and near the end there is an option to drop off, label printed etc or to collect

That’s what I used to get before it was ‘free’ but it didn’t give me that option this time, just said your item is eligible for free collection please pick a time below, unless I was having a very old person moment, which is of course entirely possible

I have used that service in the past and it worked well Judy @JudyAdams

I cannot get to the post office…well I could but would need help to get back up the mountain ha ha…x

I’d happily get my post collected if it meant I could live up a mountain, or anywhere remote really. x

You can book click and drop without collection. It applies to tracked parcels and they don’t accept them at the post office. So you would need to go to a customer service point otherwise
