Tina @DaisyWings how would you implement that if the customer has already paid?..sending refunds or asking for more could be complicated…x
For certain types of postage it is the same (eg UK signed for services). But if you go to the special delivery section online its £6.35 at the PO it’s £6.85. Online also has services that can’t be accessed via the PO such as tracked 24 and tracked 48 which are often cheaper than the first class small parcel equivalent.
That’s good thank you
And sadly, you can only used the Tracked 24 and 48 by dropping off at the type of RM place you do Sasha - ours is a drive away so we opt to drop at the town PO and use slightly more expensive postage (still bought on click and drop though).
Not sure if everyone’s aware (and it doesn’t help if you want to support your local PO), but RM are still doing the free collection service on Click and Drop. I only infrequently use it as my husband goes to the PO most days, but when I have, it’s been excellent.
I am the same Joy and also live in a small village, we don’t have any shops and our tiny post office sells essentials such as milk, bread and eggs, we have a lot of elderly people who depend on it and people like myself who no longer drive so I choose to buy from the village instead of online.
Our post office is one of the smallest and it won the National award for the best post office in the UK recently, we were all very proud. We have a lot of people who come from surrounding villages to use it, many because their own have closed down and some just choose to use ours instead of their own. Our post office is the heart of the village so it would be very sad to lose it. Also it is quite a joke that it can be my only outing for weeks. Perhaps if I lived in a large town I would consider the cheaper option as I wouldn’t have the same loyalty…either way I think the cost should be the same whether we buy online or in person.
Hi Brenda, haven’t thought it through completely yet, but wondered whether the extra postage for first class could be added as a listing for people to add but then I thought that possibly wouldn’t work because of paying folksy fees on the listing ???
I also thought that if I change to second class I would have to amend all of my card listings to say posting 2nd class.
Have you had any thoughts ? @teabreaks
