Just incase you missed it, Royal Mail prices go up again today (sigh).
In the UK a standard letter (up to 100g) 1st class = £1.25 2nd class = £75p
Large letter up to 100g 1st class = £1.95 2nd class = £1.55
Small packages (up to 2kg): 1st class = £4.19 second class= £3.49
I am really concerned as most of my items are small ‘stocking stuffer/humourous gifts’ that only cost a few pounds, so the postage is almost more than the items. I am sure this will put people off buying… Courier companies such as Evri and Yodel are def cheaper for packages, but for the humble letter/large letter, I don’t think here are cheaper alternatives.
I thought the small parcel to 2kg 2nd class was staying at £2.99. Hmm I will go double check…
We really do need another company for letters. I completely agree with you, it is making buying online too expensive. They are jusy buying it in the shops instead. My online shop has really taken a nose dive this year and it is such a worry xx
Thanks. I went through and double checked, so that’s good. Large letters have increased a lot now though. Eventually I expect they will get rid of them and make everything a parcel like couriers x
So short sighted - you would think the government would cap postage to assist and encourage growth in the UK ‘mail order’ sector. They don’t seem to do much for smaller business enterprises and seem to protect and favor larger concerns - so much for forward thinking!
My Real bug is that the £20 compensation figure for normal mail still stands as was the same in 2013… earlier too maybe but not got their pdf from before. So postage charges are doubled ++ but compensation is stagnant. Now fortunately I don’t need to claim on it (touching wooden table) but for those who do must be a nightmare and so unfair…
