Thank you @SashaGarrett for the heads up, I had no idea there was going to be another increase.
I mainly use small parcels or large letters. Small parcels are not changing so that’s a relief. It’s the large letter increase which is going to bother me. An extra 40p, that’s about a 35% increase. I bought a stash of stamps before the last increase, still have quite a few but I’ll probably do the same this time. I have only ever sent 2nd class, so I have nowhere to go there.
For about 3 years now we are hearing…‘work from home’, ‘order everything online’, ‘get everything delivered (even coffee!)’…and now we have increases in postage twice a year! All this nonsense is leading to killing small businesses and trading!
This is really bad news for everyone - business is once again held back by rising postal prices. It must harm the country overall especially as shipping anything internationally is getting crazy prices.
The government should have a good look at its policies and intervene.
Well if I have to pay more for my large letters then I shall make the postman collect them from my front door. I usually don’t and take them all to the post box. Now I shall save my petrol and make the post of the free collections (while we have them)
They really will put some small businesses out of business at this rate, I really feel sorry for all of those sellers who make cards and other small items, as if it isn’t hard enough at the minute.
i just noticed special delivery is going up around 50p, i often send parcels using this but i just charge my customer for 2nd class signed and pay the extra £4 plus myself. (A bear was lost by Royal Mail last year so I upgrade the very high end ones to make sure they have enough compensation cover) but when I cost them I forget to factor it in. I don’t use online post as I don’t want to take the wage away from my Village post office and we dont have Click and drop available.
Unfortunately where I am there is now no Post Office and no bank either. The nearest Post office is 7 miles away by car. My closest bank is 45 mins away by car… speechless really. Thank goodness I have a car but there are so many elderly people in my town with no car and the buses are so unreliable. You might get to the PO but getting home is another matter.
It is dreadful now, luckily we do still have a post office but we don’t have any shops so our post office is vital to many. It’s the same here the banks have all disappeared and are 40 minutes away in the nearest large town, I havn’t driven for the past 10 years so would be lost without the post office but I can’t see it staying forever as our postmistress is in her early seventies and the post office is in the front room of her cottage so once she retires I fear it may close. She has been there since I was a child and it is the hub of the village, it will be very sad if it has to close.
Hi Carole. The price of a small parcel has been 3.49 since March, maybe it has been different on line, If I’ve got it wrong about anything else, sorry. I was just under the impression it was just the 1st class stamps that is going up
I use my local post office and both 1st and 2nd class large letter have gone up, which is what I mainly use.
2nd class large letter is currently £1.15 and is going up to £1.55 (up to 100g) and from £1.85 to £2.40 (110g-250g) !!! an extra 40p and 55p !! 1st class has gone up a similar amount, but I shall be mainly using 2nd class. I didn’t put my postal prices up in April, but will have to this time.
Hi Sasha @SashaGarrett just wondering if you have a listing for 1st class postage upgrade will you have to pay Folksy and or Paypal fees on the listing?
