Just an update in case anyone missed the email. RM are now not delivering letters on Saturday’s at this time. Still delivering parcels though.
I sent a pump bag to DH’s cousin in Lutterworth from Hampshire and it took 2 weeks and 1 day to be received. The midlands sorting office has a massive stock pile of parcels and letters etc .
It’s a bit of a lottery at the moment. Some things, particularly in my local area are being delivered as normal. I sent a parcel to Chester recently and it took over a week. I think it very much depends on absence levels at particular sorting offices.
It seems to be a bit random at the moment, depending on where you are posting to and from. I posted a birthday card to my uncle on Monday 20th with a second class stamp (his birthday was Sat 25th) and it arrived next day and yet other things seem to be taking ages to arrive.
Postage is taking longer at the moment.
I wasn’t knocking the postal service just letting sellers know what details I had received re Saturday deliveries. Plus delays to deliveries in general a personal observation and not criticising the Postie. They have been delivering with social distancing for weeks now.
Just butting in, its letters AND large letters which are no longer being delivered on Saturdays if they’ve been sent standard 1st/2nd class. 1st/2nd class signed for letters and large letters are still being delivered on Saturdays
I posted a parcel to Newport wales from cornwall and it arrived the next day, so it is a bit hit or miss at the moment.
I think things will gradually get better, but to repeat a phase, “it’s the new normal”
Very very hit and miss at the moment. Must be different areas. I live in Norfolk, and sent some greeting cards to Wales. The lady kindly replied the next day to say she had received them. I sent a card to Norfolk and it took three days to arrive!!! All were sent via First Class Post. SallyAnn
Spare a thought for those of us with a birthday on Sunday. I think a lot of people forgot about Friday being a bank holiday and probably aren’t aware of the suspension of letter deliveries on Saturday. We probably won’t get our cards until Monday!
