Selling Overseas

Can I ask whether Folksy buyers tend to be from the UK only or do sellers here do well with overseas sales (mindful of the GPSR EU/NI situation of course)? Does anybody reach the US/Australia etc?

I get the occasional US sale here but mostly U.K.
used to have regular Europe sales before Brexit stopped me sending there.

I am the same as Deborah UK with occasional USA.

Thank you!

I have the vast majority of sales to UK with a sprinkling of sales to the US.

I had a £160 order to Hong Kong this week but privately. Been too awkward offering international here for last couple of year except USA with ROW including Europe and all the potential EU complexity so it was nothing or all. I chose nothing.

Mainly UK but I have a few USA repeat buyers and the occasional Canadian (by request as Canada ended up in ‘rest of world’ which includes too many countries I won’t ship to)

I have had orders from around the world including Australia, Canada, US and Europe on Folksy but I am no longer selling to the EU and NI due to the new regulations. The majority of my orders are from the UK.

When I joined Folksy I made the decision to sell only in the UK, and I have not changed that. But even though my shipping info confirms that, I am often surprised how often my Folksy stats show shop viewings from other countries including places I would never have expected such as Iceland, Israel and Japan. If you look at your own Folksy stats you would get an idea of the degree of global interest in your shop. That’s hoping Folksy fix the stats at some point! Of course these might not necessarily be potential buyers, but would include other makers looking for ideas, or just people arriving by mistake!

I’ve never done worldwide but I used to be EU before Brexit as well as the German packaging law, but given that I’d only ever had one order from France (a British person living there!), it was no big deal just to stick to UK. However, the stats always seem to come up with plenty of people looking from the States, Holland and odd eastern European countires - but they’ve never contacted me so presumably just moochers.

Almost entirely UK for me.

Mainly UK but did sell a rose porcelain brooch to New Zealand and a crane necklace to Belgium in 2020. But no overseas since.

Similar to everyone else - quite a few USA and Canada orders over the years, once a tiny order to Australia (the postage was several times the cost of the item). Orders to Europe (mainly Germany and Denmark) were just gaining momentum when the packaging laws came in. And sadly, quite a few orders to Northern Ireland which I can also now no longer do.

Thank you for all the replies - it does seem like the world is shrinking what with all the new legislation!

I used to sell to the EU before brexit. Now I only sell to the u.k. However I have had two orders in the past week from u.k citizens living in the EU asking me to post direct to their families including writing messages in Christmas cards and gift wrapping !
