I’ve just put my shop in holiday mode as I have a craft fair this weekend. On previous occasions when I have done this a message appeared on my shopfront but I am sure people were still able to see the items in my shop even if they were unable to buy. Today the same message re: my shop being in holiday mode has appeared but it is now accompanied by another message saying “Bother. This shop is out of stock”. I really liked the fact that when on holiday people were still able to browse my shop - for a possible return at a later date so am sad to see this feature has changed. Any chance of going back to how it was @dougfolksy @folksycontent
That’s so weird Roz - I had my shop in holiday mode last week & it just said the usual ‘shop is taking a break’ but people could still browse, so it’s a recent change & I agree not a good one! Out of interest can you put an announcement saying when you’ll be back open or does that not show up either?
Yes Dee @OrukiDesign - the announcement shows but frustrating that it looks like my shop is empty
It doesn’t seem right to me, hopefully it’s not a permanent thing. I’ve just tried & get the same thing with my shop too. Strangely though I was still able to click your link in the 365 thread & love your listing, so I don’t really get what’s going on!
This is definitely a very recent change Roz as I briefly put my shop in holiday mode on Saturday until I’d established that the internet signal at my craft fair was good enough to update my shop stock during the day. It showed the stock then. I’ve just tested it on my shop and now it does the same as yours.
@dougfolksy @folksycontent I agree with Roz - could it be changed back? I often put my shop in holiday mode whilst I’m at a craft fair if the internet signal isn’t very good and I put an announcement on my shop saying it’ll be re-opening later that day. This means that people can browse and then come back later to buy if they want to. If my stock isn’t showing, they can’t do that.
Completely agree. At this time of year I have craft fairs every weekend, so always put my shop in holiday mode with an announcement about when I will reopen. I have to say that is a really stupid message for Folksy to automatically put on, @dougfolksy @folksycontent please change this as soon as possible, it’s a very poor message to send to customers on our behalf. Your telling potential customers we haven’t bothered to put any stock in our shops!
@dougfolksy @folksycontent
I don’t think this is could it be changed back but an essential it Must be changed back.
I was on holiday a week ago. I reopened my shop on the last day as I knew I could then post out in time on my return. As usual after a holiday I had an order before I got back What is the point of my setting up a shop announcement saying I’m closed for a few days but if there is something you want please message me if the customer can’t see any of my stock.
I have emailed support.

It must be very recent because I put my shop on holiday mode last Saturday and put an announcement that I would be open again in the evening when I was at a craft fair. It worked ok then. It is very useful to be able to do this so I hope it hasn’t changed!
I have just tried it and it definitely doesn’t look good!
That shouldn’t be happening. It could be a bug. I’ll tell Doug to have a look urgently.
Doug’s out at the moment @OrchardFelts but he’ll be back home in half an hour and says he’ll have a look for you all. We haven’t made any changes to holiday mode so it should still work as before.
Thank you for your speedy response - hopefully it is a quick fix
Thanks Camilla. And thanks in advance to @dougfolksy
Thanks Camilla xx
Thank you
Hi, @OrchardFelts – I’ve just fixed it in your case and will have an investigate of what has happened, there.
We haven’t touched the code around holiday mode recently, as @folksycontent said, but it’s possible some of the database and search index tuning I’ve been doing in recent weeks could have affected things so I’ll have a look into it as a priority job for tomorrow.
Thanks very much for letting us know about the issue – sorry I was out until just now!
Doug.
Thanks Doug… just to clarify it isn’t just Roz. I tried it and it does the same to me too. xx
At least there’s a bit of a timeline if there are people saying they successfully had their shop in holiday mode at the weekend and now it’s not working for anyone who tries. Hopefully that might help narrow down what might have gone wrong, and Doug can sort it out soon.
Hi Doug @dougfolksy - thankyou so much - really appreciate you doing this for me … and I hope you enjoyed your evening out
Hi Doug @dougfolksy thank you for working on this; I have to put my shop in holiday mode until Sunday but the ‘shop out of stock’ sign is still showing, with none of my products on show for viewing. I hope you are able to resolve this today. Thanks
