So, some branches of the Christian Church are choosing to celebrate St George’s Day on a different date this year. Doesnt mean St George’s Day has moved!.

It is a bit like my husband and I had our Christmas dinner and presents and celebrations on the day that family visited rather than the actual 25th, didnt mean Christmas had moved.

And we celebrated my birthday on Monday 21st when we went out for a meal with family. But my birthday hadnt moved, it is still the 23rd.

Ignore the above, I just saw articles about the break in tradition in the UK…how odd!!

Thank you!

Lots of occasions move. Only Christmas is fixed. Even midsummer day moves according to the moon and St George’s day moves according to Easter. This is a Christian country after all.

… when St George’s Day falls between Palm Sunday and the Second Sunday of Easter inclusive, it is moved to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter

Don’t worry my husband installed a flag pole. I let him as he is old enough to have what he wants. He stuck the flag up late last night to surprise me and it will have to stay now until Monday :rofl:

And I will be sharing my dragons on Monday not today :grin:

The C of E church moved it to Monday as not allowed immediately after Easter according to their rules. I agree to me the 23rd.

I only noticed because Bob launched his flag at dead of night last night and then he spotted this morning it wasn’t today. Made us laugh.

It isnt a moveable occasion like Easter, Easter does not have a fixed day, there is no date for Easter Day, each year is different and you have to check when Easter Day is.
St Georges Day does have a date - 23rd April. This does not change. But, it seems that if this day ( ie the fixed date of 23rd April) clashes with Easter, then St Georges Day will be celebrated on another day.
So I stick with what I said before. St Georges Day is 23rd April, that has not changed, but this year may be being celebrated on a different day.
But not worth arguing over! We can agree to differ.
