Morning all its finally sunny here in the the Northwest. My question is i have come back to folksy and tried to encourage sales of my artwork, i dont know if its over priced or the photos of the artwork are not up to par, people have said nice things, but no sales, its a bit disheartening, i have 17 items on my page, trying to make sure they are saleable ie not personal. any suggestions…folksy.com/shops/deborahcofurart
Hi Deborah, I’ve just had a look at your shop and your paintings are lovely. My advice would be to use the maximum number of photos that you can as you only have one per item. I would also make one, at least, of those photos the picture in a setting so people can see how it might look in their home. It’s also vital to drive people to your shop through social media, so try to post on instagram and FB regularly, at least twice a week (something I’m not good at😂).
I hope this helps
Hi Deborah, had a quick look at your shop and I agree, photos of your work in a room setting would be helpful, so people can get an idea of the size and how it might look in an actual room. Also you could use your shop announcement to tell people about your sale, and the ‘About’ section could then be for more information about you, your process, what inspires you, what makes your products special… the sort of thing you’d tell people face to face at a fair to help them engage with you and decide to purchase from you! (I know not everyone will visit your shop homepage but I know when I’m looking to buy something here I always check out the shop and the information about the seller.)
Also you say your sale is from 45% off but actually your discounts start at 36%… and it only includes two items in your shop. As a customer if I see ‘time for a clearout’ it’s a bit offputting tbh, it sounds as though you don’t value your work, how about ‘a rare opportunity to purchase a piece of my original art at a discounted price’ or something like that instead? And I would make a ‘Sale’ collection so a customer could easily see all your sale items together - this would make it easier to promote on socilal media too.
In terms of selling more in the future, maybe you could consider a range of, say, greetings cards or other products printed with your designs, this gives you listings at a more affordable price point and broadens your customer base - people will maybe buy a card or a mug or something even if they’re not in the market for an original painting.
Sorry, didn’t set out to write you a book! Hope it’s helpful and that sales pick up for you soon
Deborah However lovely your art… and it is… you will not sell unless people find your shop and your art. All of the most beautiful photos of your work and fantastic descriptive listings are no use unless people happen to find them.
So you need to do a lot of promotion using Social Media is best. I see you have an Instagram page but no link to it from your shop but also your latest post there is 2022.
You have a link to your Facebook page but you have entered it incorrectly… it just needs the facebook prefix and your Facebook page id… you have a bit of folksy/shop in there as well but even without those i failed to find your page.
So I can’t see how frequently you are posting on there or if you have a link to your shop which you need if you want to direct people there to buy from you…
So my advice would be sort out your Social media links so they work both ways… to and from your shop … and get some social media posts on the go to show the big wide world (70 million+ in Britain ) your lovely art.
Your very talented. The pricing is fine, the photos are crisp and clear, especially the cat.
Keep going, we are all suffering with low to no sales at the moment. The last time this happened there was a problem at the Folksy end. As soon as it was fixed we all noticed an increase in sales. I personally think something is wrong again!
Thanks for the feedback, don,t worry its not a book… as for the sale thing, i dot recall putting it on there, so i don ,t know how to remove it, i will work on the social media, bit of a techno phobe.
To remove the sale text, I think you need to click on the about tab on the left and you should be able to remove/edit the text from there.
thank you for posting, i finallly engaged my brain and worked it out.
