Hi everyone. Is there an easy way to update tags on multiple listings or does it have to be done individually? When I look at theme of the day, I notice that some shops have lots of listings and wondered if they’ve found a quick and easy way of updating them. Is there a report or anything that can show me what tags I’ve got on each of my listings? Thanks
To my knowledge its one at a time
Quick answer to both questions is No. xx
I never make new listings. I always copy a similar one which means that common tags are automatically copied across. When it comes to theme of day tagging then obviously I individually tag my selected things as not a good or nice idea to have too many things in the theme of the day from one shop
I copy most of my listings too, but it’s where I’ve changed a tag for a theme of the day in the past which isn’t really a useful tag. For example, one theme of the day was “Gifts for men”, which is quite a hard keyword to be found for within the first few pages of the search, so I want to remove it and use something more relevant, but can’t remember which listing I changed so have to trawl through them all! Was hoping there was a report where i could see all my tags against my listings! Wishful thinking I suppose
I agree @JOYSofGLASS. It’s unfair on theme of the day when I see a whole page of the same sort of thing from one shop. I wish there was a way folksy could change their algorithum so that items from the same shop weren’t shown in a cluster. I think they’ve limited the christmas fair to only 3 items per shop by the looks of it!
Handy hint. Use your shop name as a tag.
Then if you want to find your specific tag search for the tag and your shop name.
That’s how I found my craftmas listings .
Joy @JOYSofGLASS - you are always there with the handy hints and work rounds! I could do with employing you to manage my shop!!
Ooh that’s a good idea. I’ve just spent the last hour or so creating a spreadsheet with all my listings and tags in I agree, @OrchardFelts… @JOYSofGLASS is always so helpful! Thank you! x
Just put “OasiscraftUK” “gifts for men” (including the quotation marks) in the search and it’ll bring up your listings that have that mentioned. It’ll also bring up listings if you mentioned that exact phrase in the description, but it’s more likely with that wording that it’d be in the tags.
Brilliant… thanks Kim
I get so muddled with my tags for theme of the day I probably put too many items under one tag - I’ve even stopped using the ‘tag one thing only’ because I can never remember if I’ve used it or not and it would be too embarrassing to use it twice.
Thanks Joy @JOYSofGLASS I shall try out using my shop name as a tag - it’s a great idea to use it and a specific tag together - that could make life easier and hopefully I’ll get some sort of overview on what I’ve tagged or not.
@Fififoxi It’ll work even without using your shop name as a tag, “fififoxi” will already bring up all your listings, then put the tag you’re looking for in quotation marks too (the separate quotation marks are important to make sure it’s only looking for your shop and that exact tag, nothing similar).
Kim I mentioned the use of the shop name as a tag specifically so it shows just the listings for that tag for the specific shop first
I sometimes need to get a ‘tag search’ url to add to social media posts… if say I wanted to tag all the birds I have here on Folksy. I find it very useful.
I know with the old search it could be particularly helpful to add your name to the tags, but since the new search I’ve found it picks me up much better without needing to add it.
But yes, there may be other ways it comes in useful for you too (and that ease of finding may be helped by a unique name )
Thanks Kim. It does work much better with the quotes. I just tried Craftmas Joysofglass and without the quotes round Joysofglass i got mine followed by all the rest. With the quotes i just got mine
