What else can I do to promote?

But is that views from other crafters on the promotional threads on here for example as they vote (or not)? Does it generate sales? I’m just confused how it actually works if no-one is interacting on the Craftjuice Twitter and FB pages.

No those are not views from voters as they never go to your shop to vote they vote on craftjuice. So it’s views from people who have clicked on your item in your shop via the twitter, facebook and google+ where craftjuice have promoted your item because your item had 5 votes.

Mind you there are people who like to check out what’s new on craftjuice ie that hasn’t got enough votes so hasn’t been fully promoted yet. In order to see if there might be something they might like to buy quickly before it has a chance for it to be promoted. Then of course you’ll get a direct view to your shop if they are thinking of buying as they’ll click the link through to your shop.

I know they vote on Craftjuice but surely some visit the link? Maybe the traffic is coming via google+? Not sure if you’re on Twitter or FB but there is very little interaction on their Craftjuice page/feed so not sure how many are visiting via those shared links. Would Google analytics show where the views for the items had come from?

Thanks for taking the time out Eileen to deal with my endless Qs on Craftjuice, I do appreciate it.

That’s ok

If you have google analytics turned on then yes it will be able to tell you how your views come through.

Don’t worry about asking questions we all do that. The forum is a great place to share and gain new knowledge.

Thanks for your support Liz @BigBirdLittleBird but Country Living obviously don’t agree with you - they turned down my application. :disappointed_relieved:

Feeling a bit disheartened, but I’ll survive…

Sorry to hear that Christine :frowning: Can’t believe they turned you down, thought you would be really popular on there. x

I too have only sold a few things on folksy, some stuff on pinterest but mostly I sell to people who see my stuff, either at fairs or to people I meet. I also despaired of smaller fairs and then did a bigger one with high hopes but sadly didnt do much better. I am booked into a big craft for christmas one in november but am quite apprehensive as it has been a big initial outlay. Although I do love meeting my customers, I really want to build up my online sales esp on folksy as this is the most profitable and therefore less pressurised. I find twitter pretty good but facebook not so much. I think it is really hard to second guess what works esp as demographics are so personal. What works for one, may not for another. I am constantly surprised by where my sales come from. X

I have only sold 1 item here on Folksy so I am trying to focus on promoting more for my shop here - I am like you facebook doesn’t do much for me it’s great free advertising but I am not reaching enough people - I also use google + and pinterest and have recently come across wanelo you just post your links there very similar to pinterest it’s free maybe worth a go - craft fairs didn’t work for me I would love my own shop but that’s a mere dream - good luck to all with sales and let’s hope the Christmas shopping kicks in soon  x

Some craft fairs have worked really well for me but it is very hit and miss. I hadn’t heard of wanelo or google + so will have a look. There are so many ways to promote work I cant keep up and I do feel a little bit swallowed up by the wealth of amazing work out there.
Good luck with your christmas sales!
