Hello all,
Question in the title really, I’m doing an event at the end of June, first one ever and as most of my shop inventory will be going with me to try and sell there what do I do with my shop please? I am just a little worried that if I leave the shop open then someone buys the same piece at the event I’ll have sold the same thing twice if that makes sense? Hope you can help?
Thank you in advance.
Lynne
You could always put your shop on holiday for the day, or if you haven’t too many items in stock and can access Folksy on your phone, you could alter your stock whilst at the craft fair. So if you sell something at the craft fair, then just change the stock level in your Folksy shop in the listings section. Hope that makes sense and good luck at the fair!
Thanks so much, @CarmicCreations I never even thought of putting the shop into holiday mode thank you
I find that I normally have enough visitor lulls at craft fairs to hop on the folksy app and hide any items I sell.
Really it is a question of how likely is it that someone would buy the same thing that day. Unless you are selling on a regular basis then I would say very unlikely. I have only ever had it happen once and my shop is normally pretty busy. In that case the customer actually wanted a different colour than the one they had ordered so no problem. If I had closed my shop here I would not have had that sale.
I always leave my shop here open when at events and if i sell something at the event nip into my shop and remove it from sale. Rarely so busy I don’t have time to do that.
Good luck with your fair.

Like Sasha, I always mark the pieces I’ve sold at a fair as “hide from sale” whilst I’m at the fair.
Although it seems unlikely you will sell an item ‘twice over’ just to be on the safe side I would hide any ‘folksy’ items that you are taking to the sale just for the day - it’s quick and easy to do - just remember to re-activate them afterwards. Good luck with the fair.
I always put my shop in holiday mode. Despite the fact that I don’t make all that many sales on here, I did once manage to sell the same item both here and at a craft fair - very embarrassing, and not something I would contemplate repeating!
I don’t think I would find it embarrassing. More it shows the customer just how desirable your goodies are
Thank you all, I guess it is very unlikely that I’ll sell anything ‘twice’ as I sell next to nothing here on Folksy I don’t imagine I’ll be doing a roaring trade at the event either, maybe I was being a little ambitious when that scenario popped into my head.
I don’t have the Folksy app but will go get it on my phone just in case.
Thanks again everyone
