Who and what are you making not for your shop

I’ve got two Christmas Decoration Exchanges to make for on two different craft forum one of which I’m admin on so I have to try and organise at least one exchange a year for, along with a competition and a give away once a year.

I’m making a cross stitch heart Christmas decoration for one but I’ve no idea what I’ll make for the other yet.

Is anyone else making anything that’s not going into their shop but is perhappes for an exchange, or competition or as a gift?

My 18 year old daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan so I’m planning on making a cushion for her for Christmas with an applique silhouette of a doe and the word “Always” (Harry Potter fans will understand). This is a one-off just for her and the design will never be used for selling as, even though the design will be mine, the idea that inspired it was quite obviously not!

Would be lovely to see how it comes out.

Not quite what you were looking for but after I get my xmas decs done and listed I plan on taking a me break and I am going to make a sort of cape/poncho from a large section of tweed I have. It will be proper sewing - underling, lining, invisible stitching all done by hand. That’s the idea anyway. Never tried anything like it before so could be amaaazing or a total mess!

I’m doing some sewing at the moment, I have some Dr Who/Tardis fabric, I’ve already done a wallet, a bottle holder and a rucksack for my grandson, I’m now making a couple of seatbelt pads from some of the fabric, again for my little grandson

Not a competition but I’m making an entire authentic Victorian outfit for a Dickens Christmas re-enactment. I’ve made my red flannel petticoat (I need a white linen or cotton one too) and already have some suitable drawers and chemise I use for my WW1 red cross nurse. I’ve just finished my first structured felt bonnet http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk/shop/home/675-early-victorian-bonnet-with-ribbon-work-decoration-1845-1865.html but the design is a bit old fashioned for 1869 so I’ll be making another with a smaller brim in a tan silk wool mix - it will be trimmed with silk organza ties and silk ribbon flowers.
This week I am making a cotton corset, the first of these two designs http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk/shop/laughing-moon/134-victorian-corset-sewing-pattern-by-laughing-moon-.html and next week a crinoline http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk/shop/home/429-1856-walking-cage-crinoline.html ! Then I will be making this dress design in a light brown wool plaid http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk/shop/laughing-moon/146--ladies-early-1860-s-day-dress-lm111.html and possibly another in chocolate wool silk mix if I have time.
At some point I need to make a jacket too as my character is mostly outside but I have a warm plaid wrap too.

And to show off my husband’s sewing skills, here’s my youngest son (hubby made the doublet and hose, I made the ruff and hat)

My granddaughter has asked me to make her an owl cushion for her bedroom and also some curtains to go round her cabin bed so that she has a ‘den’. We’ve planned the colours and now I look forward to the sewing.

Sarah @thesherbetpatch love your inspiration

I’m going to be doing the same thing for the shelving cupboard hubby has created under the half barn door between my kitchen and conservatory. I’ve not sure what material I’ll be using yet until the whole kitchen is completed but I have a feeling there might be blue and white in the mix.

To day I’ve made a wee Crochet Christmas decoration for my little white Christmas Tree that I always put in my porch.
and a little bead and button Christmas Decoration to go on the same tree. I made some 2 years ago but ended up giving a couple away so reason for making a new one.

Trying out some experimental things on my textiles study course. This piece is about re-wilding (planting flowers and trees over concreted and sterile areas), done in an abstract manner:-

Last night I was making an anniversary card for my other half (based on an in joke between us so no photo) now I’m trying to clear up all the glitter that didn’t stick.
