7 whole years!

Since my first sale on Folksy! Wow! Doesn’t seem like that long ago!

Folksy taught me so much in the early days and particularly the wisdom of @HilaryP shaped the way I run my shops/blog/take photos/interact on social media etc etc! Thanks Hilary!

I have made lovely friends - online friends that exchange Christmas gifts and cards (does that happen anywhere else?!)

What will the next 7 years bring I wonder? …7 years ago I was taking a break from being an Air Traffic Controller, making and selling was a little hobby, a stop gap whilst my daughter was a baby and now it is my full time job!

So thank you Folksy for the laughs, the tears and some sales along the way!

Congratulations. My first sale was a Frog Ring 5/9/2009 so I’ve just beaten you
Customer paid by Echeque and I was so excited by my first sale I sent it straight out before cheque cleared as a measure of my good faith. I did get paid.

Happy anniversary Dottie and to all the others who’ve been on Folksy for 7 years. My first sale on Folksy was 7 years ago in June and I’ve loved every minute of it. I wonder if anyone has been on Folksy longer than you Joy? When did Folksy first start - I can’t remember? x

I was first on Folksy when it was in “Beta” selling my jewellery and kiln fused dichroic earrings and cufflinks, then there was a big thing about only being allowed to sell completely handmade items and not items that included mass produced components so I closed shop because the “findings” were mass produced and I didn’t have the materials to make my own ear wires or cufflink bases or metal bails for my glass.
I remember being one of the first sellers on Misi as well, I got a cotton bag!
It was a shame to leave Folksy as I had a few sales too, but I also remember the forums were very nasty with constant bickering and bitchiness!
So glad things have changed now and it’s is a lovely and happy forum!

Happy Folksy Anniversary, Susan! I made my first sale about seven and a half years ago. My best years were 2012-13.
@debbselliman, I remember all that palaver when a lot of people left. I supported Folksy’s aims to a certain extent (it still annoys me when someone hangs a mass-produced charm on a mass produced chain and calls it handmade), but the rules seemed very inconsistent and still are. I make cufflinks and could certainly not manage to make the link itself!
