I’ve heard about people going on cruises and having a go at workshops. If I wasn’t married then this would be a great opportunity for me.
I don’t know about cruises, but I did teach a workshop at the NEC at a major exhibition. It was a wonderful experience!
The only type of cruise I could see myself doing would be one to the south pole to see the icebergs and penguins and I doubt that’s what they are offering!
Not on a cruise ship as I had a panic attack on one due to being clostraphobic (however you spell it). It’s the only time I’ve ever had a panic attack.
I have taken regular holidays to the sports and crafts hotel down in Devon where I’ve ended up teaching the fabric painting and the glass painting. And as I’m a qualified Squash and Badminton coach I’ve also coached squash and badminton there when staff members were unavailable. I didn’t mind really but I was supposed to be on holiday and not a member of staff.
I’ve been on a Med cruise and loved it.
I’d love to teach arts and crafts (am a qualified trainer) If my mum had let me go to art college instead of making me get a job I can see I might have gone into teaching art/textiles.
I know it says you get a free cruise in return for doing the classes but not sure why I’d want to pay him £40 a day (he’s found a niche hasn’t he?).
I wonder if you can contact the cruise lines direct, I know Fred Olsen cruises now has craft workshops on some of their cruises.
I too wondered this why would you pay him he should pay you to teach a crafting session.
There’s something very wrong about this. By law even job agencies can not ask you to pay them to be placed on their books. It’s the client ie the company you go to work for that pay the agency fee. So if he’s placing someone on a ship to teach a crafting session it would be the cruise company he would be charging not you.
When I clicked on the link my first thought was ‘how sun damaged is his skin?’
I think you could contact the cruise lines @memicrafts, that would have been my first move.
Interesting - I always assumed tutors got paid for their work on cruises and got a free ride too. I’ll ask my daughter to ask her strings group leader as she’s always going off on cruises to play her violin.
