Anyone heard of any Paypal problems?

Had an order placed last night and it showed up on FP as not only being bought but then in the sold spot clocking up an hour or so.

The order showed in our feed as awaiting payment. We emailed the purchaser and let them know that payment hadn’t gone through and could they check at their end.

They said they would try again. Have just received a message back saying they aren’t going to both as they have just read there is a huge problem on the net with a virus and bank payments.

If all our prospective sales do the same it’s not going to bode well for anymore online sales :frowning:

oh dear. I used my paypal account 3 times this week to buy craft supplies and no problems.

I think there is a problem with certain people who don’t keep their anti virus software up to date and use the same passwords for everything they do on the internet.

I had a sale last night and there were no problems. I haven’t heard from any customer experiencing problems either.

It may well have been one of those Friday evening purchases…

Hi Heather @littleRamstudio yes I’ve had probs this week, got an emil from a lady who was trying to pay for a card but everytime she tried to pay she was getting a blank page, and also, I had no notification from PayPal or folksy to say someone has made a purchase because before this lady tried, I’d had a sale from another customer but again no notifications ?? Steph x

It sounds to me (from what you wrote) that they were about to make an impulse purchase and changed their mind. I truly hope there is no problem.

Was this on Folksy or another site where you use PP?

Hi Steph, the thing is with this ‘purchase’ is that the item appeared in the being bought now photo box on the FP and then in the sold photo box with the time (showed 27 mins and went on until sold 1 hour).
We’ve had nuemrous things show up in the being bought now box and nothing comes of it. But the fact the item was showing up as actually sold makes us wonder about how an item gets there?

Have tried to salvage the sale but don’t think anything will come of it.
Such a shame when every sale on Folksy seems to entail a good deal of hard work

Normally we would think that too.
But we’ve had 3 emails with the purchaser telling us it’s a birthday present and asking us to add a gift tag with a message, etc., etc.,…

Purchased ink cartridges and x2 adds to British Crafters with no probs. I do find however that the phone PP App is always playing up but have learned to ignore it! …for example I’ll transfer £10 to my bank account and it will say ‘Transfer failed’ when I know it hasn’t failed at all! I’ll go to the www. site and all will be well and the money will be in my bank account when I go to check that end! Mx

I had exactly the same problem on here like Steph.

Steph has written exactly what the customer had put in a message to me about the blank page.

Ended up sending an invoice myself and marked the order as paid.

Ok I just tried to pay with paypal for set of circular knitting needles on ebay.

I have an error message saying return to merchant. So I’m about to check my paypal balance account as some of the monies where coming out of my paypal balance and some from my debit card.

brb

ok I’m back and according to my paypal account I’ve paid for my circular knitting needles so now I’m confused.

DH says I should send a message to the merchant now to see if they’ve been credited.
Have looked on ebay and again and the items is in my bought items with a estimated delievery date.

So looks like paypal are sending out some strange error messages but everything is infact A OK

Thanks for that Eileen

I’ve had a small payment come out of my bank to PayPal but nothing showing on my PayPal account. I emailed them 4 days ago but they haven’t answered so I’ll have to gird my loins in the morning and give them a ring.

@littleRamstudio they may have just had cold feet and may hopefully try to pay again once the weekend’s over. There’s apparently been quite a major virus affecting Macs, Windows computers etc. that have the facility to share work with others (from what I can understand - like Google docs etc). I heard this on the radio on Thursday evening and on the morning, they were strongly suggesting that you put off purchasing and paying for goods over the internet all weekend.

Perhaps you could send another message to suggest she tries again tomorrow.

Elaine
