That sounds really great Margaret…an’t wait to see the results…
The last time I painted in oils I was at school !!
Here is this afternoon’s 7x5 acrylic
.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy oils Margaret. If you (or anyone) needs info on avoiding turps do let me know. Brenda I just give my brushes a good swish and dab around in cooking oil and wipe. No water.
OceanArts be aware that the stats thing is often broken. I never look at it anymore. Have you set up Google analytics?
Look forward to seeing your oil paintings Margaret.
Love that landscape Brenda and your birds are great Stephie
I’ve been busy painting this week … lots going on at the moment, I’m still listing here too.
Good morning gang…OK it’s not technically morning but I’ve only just got dressed, I had a comfy pyjama morning
I’ve had my best ever month on Folksy, sold 21 paintings and 2 easels on here and I’ve had a couple of ebay sales too so I’m feeling very hopeful.
Just listed this oil painting from last year, finally dried and varnished. I don’t know how artists who sell their paintings while they are literally still wet to the touch cope with packaging etc, I know there are some who are so much in demand that they take them to galleries wet and they sell almost instantly. Dream…
well done on those sales Stephie…the owl is fabulous…the auction place is still the best for me. 3 on here or me this month.
The painting above sold this morning to a family member who loved it…
I hope everyone else is having goo sales…
Mark…keep going, even if you just list a few to keep the shop open.
Waving Hazel…nice poppies…I love poppies.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Thank you Max @paperchainsandbeads just got my bookmark…it’s beautiful, I LOVE it!!! Colours are stunning!
Awww thank you Margaret …ooo i didn’t think about greetings card, will try a couple of prints first. Planning on producing squirrels greeting cards in April as funds allow unfortunately big initial set up cost with my printers for the greeting cards as i have to do them in batches of 200. Good luck with your oil painting course in March, love to see how you get on.
Lol…Love it Brenda! i never noticed that before hehe she really does look like she’s got a tail …loving the colours in your landscapes, in awe how you get so much detail in a wee little painting just brilliant! Thanks ever so for the heads up about the postage too
Thanks Steph …yep i’m hoping to illustrate children’s books as well as license some of my characters with companies for their product, just prepping my promo cards to mail shot agents in March…got my fingers crossed i may get signed up by one. Your birdies are sooo beautiful & vibrant…oils are one medium i’ve never used before, always been abit afraid with how to use them but love seeing how others use them in particular how the textures add to the effect and brings a whole new dimension to a painting.
Lovely Poppies Hazel
Mark @OceanArtsNorthDevon sorry your thinking of leaving, just been having a look at your products…they are truly stunning! I’ve only been launched since Oct 14 but it does seem tough to get viewings on here, through Jan & Feb i had more tumble weed going through my shop then viewings. I promote on FB but haven’t got a big audience yet still growing & looking for new ways to connect…i tell myself there are customers out there it’s just they haven’t found me yet so i’ll keep trying and want to be here when they do find me & for the few customers i’ve had …like Brenda said maybe even just keep a few items in your shop. I’m gonna try a few bits over on the other side too to see how that works to so i might spread my range around, plus i got some new products coming up. I’m also looking at a couple of other marketing tactics like small giveaways every now & then…i did see another small business direct here giveaway to her shop via the new call to action buttons on FB which i thought was a niffy idea to drive customer traffic. Keep you chin up and good luck what ever you decide to do.
Wow fabulous well done on the sales Steph…i def need to learn some selling techniques from you & Brenda!
Have a fab day everyone…i’m off for some coffee & cake…well it would be rude not to x
afternoon all, coping with a horrid migraine hangover, feel very sorry or myself :(. Thank you Jackie @cheekymonkeystudio, well done Royal mail on speedy delivery too!.
well done on sales too, great news hopefully things are picking up again, so sorry to hear your struggling Mark @OceanArtsNorthDevon, if you are on facebook have you searched for any ‘groups’ that would help with sharing, I find for example if I show work on ACEO or Art groups I get more views than just on my own page, got to be worth a try.
Spent the morning watch u-tube videos on using acrylic inks, I bought them a while ago but never really got started with them so I have been sat quietly this morning and just ‘had a proper go’, what do you think?
Wow @paperchainsandbeads Max that is REALLY stunning! The contrasts are awesome. What size is it and is it for sale? [ EDIT I’ve just seen on fb that it’s 8x8, too big for me sadly ]
Hope you’re feeling better soon, whenever I’ve had migraines the world has been very fuzzy and indistinct the next day.
@cheekymonkeystudio there’s a website where you can pitch for illustration work, an ex-folksier Gina got some work that way. I don’t know the name of it but I’m sure you could google it.
Ah thanks Stephie, just finished 3 ACEO’s too, I think I may have hit upon a new favourite medium lol! I am definitely going to be making more, I have just cut some 6 x 4 paper in readiness
I agree with Stephie…wow …Max…absolutely love those…
Waving Jac and Stephie…just done another 7x5 acrylic but not happy with it at the moment…I will need to fiddle with it a bit more yet…all good practice.
Almost time to go and get the Saturday fish and chips…I am such a lazy slob…lol
WOW! Some amazing work happening here!!! I’m upto my eyes in paint … in a nice way… commissions etc. Just found time to list another in my new print series. Big hugs for a terrific arty weekend to everyone.
Awesome work on here today! Stephie your owl is amazing, love it!
Max, for a ‘first proper go’ with acrylics your flowers are stunning, the big one especially! Of the ACEOs I find it hard to choose a favourite, they all have their own appeal.
Beautiful purple landscape Brenda, enjoy your chips.
Very attractive magpie Bee,
I saw on FB the results of the first oil painting workshop, the same as I’ll be doing next month, and it looks like we’ll be doing a simple seascape, but it’ll give me an idea whether I could take to oils or not. Stephie I may well be asking about avoiding turps if I do take it up as a hobby!
I’ve been moving things around in my two rooms today. I’ve mentioned before that I have my own old bedroom, but inherited my brothers bedroom too when he got married. Now I’ve decided to get rid of his old bed, I don’t need two bedrooms for myself, so I’ll turn his small room into a sitting room I can use as an alternative to sitting in the lounge downstairs with Mum and Dad and the constantly changing TV channels, which drives me mad. I’ve started dismantling David’s pine bed, which I’ll have to take apart to get it out of the room. I’ll see if anyone at work wants an second hand single bed, someone might want it. Then I might struggle to get my reclining chair across the landing from one to the other room. When it’s done I’ll feel I’ve got my own private living space upstairs, which will suit me much better
That’s great about you having your own sitting room Margaret, good to have your own space
I’ve been up early today and decided to have a March Madness one day offer here on Folksy today, this year has been amazing for Art In Wax so far so as a little thank you I am having a March Madness offer today … I don’t do offers very often nowadays but today I’m offering 25% off all items in my folksy shop …
Morning all…Happy St. David’s Day…hope everyone has an art filled sunny Sunday…
Good luck with the sale Hazel.
Sounds like a nice idea to have your own space Margaret…somewhere to hang your new oil paintings.??
Back later…
Morning Brenda. Lovely blue skies here if a bit chilly … I’m just off to waitrose, shopping a coffee and post a couple of sales from the offer this morning.
Good morning, what a lovely sunny day here in West Lancashire!
Happy St David’s Day Brenda. Do you celebrate it in any way?
Good luck with the sale Hazel.
Margaret that sounds like the perfect retreat for you.
I treated myself to a book on the history of art yesterday, I decided it was about time I improved my scant knowledge. It will keep me entertained at breakfast for months lol. Did you know that in the 14th century tapestries were valued more than oil paintings?
