Art Chat March 2015

Morning everyone

I do give to some charities but like you guys i like to choose to who, when and what i give without being manipulated to giving by them. I’ve found particularly of late the big charities when i gave they then over saturate their marketing at you with constant phone calls, e-mails etc. And to be honest it’s really annoyed me…especially one who just after we lost hubby’s Dad were constantly phoning us to donate, i did eventually have to tell them to toddle on as they really upset us.

I’ve done lots of daft & crazy sponsored events over the years for different charities. Though nowadays apart from a couple most charities i support are really small one that have real significance to me or to close friends & family. I use to like to do it for the fun, silliness and genuinely helping people but maybe i’m getting cynical as i’m getting older but it all feels very staged and commercial. Steph I hadn’t planned to watch it as i supported in other ways but did end up watching about half hour but to be honest i got very bored of it.

My cartoon is an old one of me that i did years ago that i just played with adding digital red nose & boppers for abit of fun …yep all that digital work was sending me daft!

Steph love those dramatic vibrant colours!
Oooo allotments my Dad’s got one but i’m lucky enough to have my own veggie patch…for me it’s potting shed, seed packets, tools, watering can, fresh veggies in trugs with mud on and a steaming cuppa …this is what i saw down the end of my veggie patch last night …

Barn Owl!!! :grinning: …excuse the bad photo, only had my camera phone on me.

Working day for me today , more digital prep :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: …have a fabulous day everyone x

Lovely work Max, sounds like you are having a creative day too … my hubby has to work today, not often he works on a Saturday so I have a day to myself and the time has just flown by, I have been painting most of the time, had a commission to do and painted some tulips large and small

My miniature plate stands have just arrived too so I have been playing with The Gallery and making a new window display …

Max, those are absolutely super…I was doing bluebells on aceos today and they were rubbish, so I took the bluebells out and they became a pathway…lol…
Jac, great to see a Barn owl…and catch it on your phone…my phone doesn’t take pics,…just an old basic one…
Jac, when Hubby and I were on a committee for Age Concern we were told that once you give money to charity (and give them your details) they circulate those details to all the other charities as you are then “labelled” as willing to give.It puts you on a list !

Morning all…
Morning Max, another fab painting…love the colours…lots of purple !!
Put a stew in the slow cooker, so now, I should have plenty of time to paint.

That is beautiful Brenda and lots of colour from you Max

I had a great day painting yesterday. Not often I get all day to myself so was very productive. These are the tulips I mentioned.
Hope you all have a nice day - Mother’s Day celebrations etc. I’m not a Mum and my mum is no longer with us so other than the fact I know a couple of Mum’s out there will be getting some Art In Wax its a day from remembering Morhers Days gone by for me

Hello everyone,

Happy Mother day!! Hope you Mum’s are having a lovely day.
Spoke to my Mum earlier who’s over the moon with her new special mug i designed for her  …so very chuffed! Hoping to speak to my Mum-in-Law later to see if she’s got her’s too.

A special Mother’s day picture on my fb page below…still trying to figure out how to just link the picture instead of the URL, if anyone know please can you let me know cos i keeping trying different ways but not figured it out yet, thank you

I was hoping to see the barn owl last night as he’s flying nearer the house over the last week, stalked outside with the big camera for an hour last night but no show…fingers crossed i’ll get another chance to see him.

Fabulous poppies Brenda they really pop from the blue. Thanks for info ref charities list that does explain alot…i was really disappointed in the charity who upset us at their lack of compassion.

Ooo loving your woodland aceo’s Max…beautiful colours.

I’m not a Mum either and both my Mum’s live over 5 hour’s drive so having a chill out day with hubby’s as he’s back home from work.

Have a lovely chilled Sunday everyone x

Jac, If I want to show a picture that isn’t listed, I take it straight from my pc…(no idea how to take it from fb)
click on the little rectangle with what looks like mountains…and then select choose file from your device.

afternoon everyone, just got a message from Bee, who asked me to pass on a message that she will be away from the forums for a bit, very sadly one of her precious pets has passed away.

Lovely work today @cheekymonkeystudio Jac, you can add a Folksy link (like mine) by using the same path as Brenda but use the second box you need to paste the pic url in the top box and then ‘click more’ and add the listing url there. Just a word of caution Folksy don’t allow links to other sites so you can only use this for Folksy Listings.

off to catch up on the daily listers back later and I hope your all having a lovely Sunday I’m stuffed full of lunch chicken dinner (I made it lol) yum!

Central heating broke down so no painting…too cold…waiting for the gas board…
If Bee reads this …sending hugs…the loss of a pet is awful.

Waving everyone, fab work!

I’m really tired today, we went to pick son up from uni yesterday, roughly a 400 mile round trip. It’s lovely to have him home, couldn’t ask for a nicer Mother’s day

Brenda do you have alternative heating? Stay wrapped up.

Just listed this cat

Off to make dinner now…it’s pre-prepared spag bol so not too much to do :stuck_out_tongue:

Fab work everyone, can’t comment on everything as I’m not sure how long my internet connection will last!

I rang up EE and they’re sending someone out to check the line on Wednesday morning. I suspect the plastic bag wrapped up across the phone lines up the local telegraph pole is to blame. Hopefully it’ll soon get sorted (hope he brings his ladder with him!)

Hugs to Bee, losing a pet is always very upsetting, and Brenda, I hope your heating gets sorted soon.

So very sorry to hear about Bee’s sad loss…will be thinking of her. x

Arh thank you every so much Brenda @teabreaks & Max @paperchainsandbeads that helps masses …i normal add my pic’s straight from laptop or external hard drive with the mountain symbol but pic was on the external hard drive that hubby had created an impenetrable fortress to get to when he cleared out his car of work stuff. I’d seen you link pic’s Max with your listing which i really liked how that shows a lovely big pic without all the text especially as my text listing are very wordy …but i couldn’t work out how you did it or whether it would work for owt else. I’ve jotted those notes down thank you so much.

Will re-post the mother’s day pic tomorrow afternoon when hubby’s taken all his kit back to work and i can get to my hard drive again.

Brenda hope you get your heat sorted soon, stay wrapped up.
Margaret hope you get your connection sorted too, it’s so frustrating when it drops in & out.
Steph lovely kitty…hope your putting feet up that sounds like one heck of a trip but lovely to have your son home for Mother’s day.

Have a lovely evening everyone x

We pleaded with the gas board to come today. They said they couldn’t come until tomorrow until hubby told them that he has recently had heart surgery , was a diabetic and in his 70’s…worked wonders. However they have only done a temporary fix and said that when it turns off tonight, it might not come on in the morning. They are coming back tomorrow to fit a new part… How people afford new boilers is beyond me…we have just about enough in our savings and we will have to use it as we cannot be without heat.
It is the only heating we have…I had better get painting…lol…
I have blankets at the ready in case we are cold tomorrow.

Brenda have you thought about buying a small portable electric heater? I have a 3kw convector one upstairs and a small 3kw fan heater downstairs and I have to say I use them a lot. They’re really useful for heating just one room rather than the whole house, which is good for daytime use for me as there’s only me in and I tend to stay in one room. But they’re also fab for emergencies such as yours.

Good morning, hope your heating is sorted today Brenda, it’s cold again this morning here brrr.

Just listed this one

fortunately the heating was on this morning…despite the fact that it cut off at 9 last night and should have stayed on until 10pm. Hopefully the engineer will come today to fit the needed parts.
Stephie…we found electric heaters too expensive to run and I know that if hubby sat with a heater round his feet, he would want it ALL the time as he always feels the cold…THEN the bills would be sky high.
Blankets are good and he has a heater in his mobility chair which he can turn on and off if he gets cold.
Max, that is a beautiful flower…of course I LOVE the colours…lol…
Be back later…
