Hi Margaret…to be honest, I think that people with anorexia can only be helped when they ask for it. It definitely needs proper expert help but you cannot help someone if they don’t want it. Sad but true. I think that with children you can but with adults, short of having them mentally sectioned I think you are helpless. Let’s hope that your friend can summon up the strength to ask for help. The need to talk to an expert.
She was sectioned last time when she got down to 5 stone something. She’s going to the eating disorder clinic tomorrow so hopefully she’ll get some help. It’s a difficult thing to understand if you don’t suffer from it. I know it’s a mental illness so it does need professional help. It’s so frustrating when some people tell her she looks amazing because she’s so skinny…
That’s very sad Margaret, I’m sure the Clinic will help, it’s a terrible illness, I’ve no experience of dealing with anorexia but do have some of bulemia, it’s difficult as the person really does have to want help, the only thing I was able to offer was support, kindness and understanding which is very difficult as it’s dreadful to see someone you care about ‘punishing’ themselves.

Margaret it sounds like your friend is on the right path by going to the clinic. All you can do is be there and continue to offer non-judgemental support, which I’m sure you’re doing already.
Lovely artwork on display, Max’s robin and the blues in Brenda’s last one are my faves today.

Ah Stephie, love seeing your journal, I use ‘traffic’ lights often in my reports to show green for good, amber for few problems and red for oh heck!

Brenda yes I spend a LOT of time in coffee shops! I like to be with with other people and since I’m on my own most of the day, this a good way to do it. I buy one coffee and stay for hours

Do the coffee shops get cross with you?. A lot of places would expect you to keep buying more drinks or vacate to leave the seats for new customers!

It’s a chain (Costa) so sadly they can’t. I have had my art on the wall of an independent coffee shop but it went out of business…was it my art do you think??

I do like a coffee myself Stephie, can’t paint while I’m out though lol I often have a coffee when I go to the post office as it is in Waitrose and they have a cafe plus its within walking distance for me
