Bank holiday plans

Hi everyone, carrying on with the positive theme to the forum I thought I’d ask if anyone had any plans for the bank holiday weekend?
I sell my wares in a local shop so I am down to work the Sunday, each maker in the shop volunteers a couple of days a month to keep the shop staffed.
I’ll probably end up cleaning on Saturday and maybe do some crafting on Monday, I have a large cross stitch piece I want to finish :).

31st May to 2nd June we have a three-day market so no rest for the weekend - but then we work weekends and have our “weekends” Monday to Wednesday - well most weeks . So technically we are off on BH Monday

Normally hubby has to work bank holidays but he has this one off.
I work school term time so he tries to book his holidays around the school holidays and it’s half term next week so we have the week off.
Haven’t got anything planned though. We have the car in for a service on Tuesday and we have a minor break fluid leak needs sorting so we’ll wait and see what that’s going to cost us before we start thinking about doing anything.

Good luck with the market I hope it is a busy one for you

Half term for me too but my two are grown and in college now so it doesn’t make much difference :).
I hope the car doesn’t cost too much, the price of a service along seem to be going up and up :frowning: not to mention anything else you have to get done.

Joanne I love the sound of your local crafty shop, what a great way to staff it too, I’m guessing by staffing with the very folk who stock the shop with their creations gives a wonderful customer experience? I mean who better to be enthusiastic about the product than the folk who’ve poured their hearts into it.
My days are all holidays now I’ve retired so I’ll be doing mostly all the things I love, this time of year I’m on the allotment quite a bit, or in the garden, or just generally being around my horse, I might go and shoot a few arrows or work on one of my knitting projects, I’ve also got a hankering to sew myself a new dress but I’ll definitely be drawing or painting too.

@ccbandatp hope your markets are busy ones and enjoy your days off.
@Knittingtopia hope the fix isn’t too expensive and you can enjoy your half term off. We are really lucky as we have a little local back street garage who is one of those rare as hens teeth finds and is very reasonable on price and is an all round lovely chap.

Thank you Joanne - my first of the year - Alan has already done a few Art Markets. So I am looking forward to it - a great group to work with :grinning:

Ooh hope that bill isn’t too painful. We had an expensive month last month with our car what with £300 road tax and a repair bill f £300 :disappointed:

Finishing off my friend’s Keepsake Memory Bear. Making up two laptop covers for hubby and myself. Get old laptops, pair of hubby’s shoes he’s never worn up for sale and if there’s time, I need to get a Charity Shop name banner done. In between? Well coffee, coffee and probably more coffee. Have a great weekend everyone no matter what it is you are up to. Katie

I forgot it was Bank holiday! I’ve got to get something finished for a customer for Monday, so I will probably be glazing for the next few days.
I’ve got my Mum with me on Monday, so I’ll be looking after her. Maybe I’ll treat us to a couple of bank holiday ice-creams!

Ooops - got my weeks mixed up :upside_down_face::slightly_smiling_face::upside_down_face::slightly_smiling_face::upside_down_face:. It’s bank holiday this weekend and not next :joy:. In that case I’ll be beavering away in my workshop ready for our market the following weekend

Who pinched yet another week

We also had to buy a new TV this month too as the backlight went on ours.

@PaintedHorseArt is it so wrong that I can’t wait to retire :joy:. I’m 50 this year so got a few more years to go yet :joy:. We also use a little back street garage who are really trustworthy. The only problem is they are so good that it can be difficult to get booked in with them at times. It’s a family firm that have been going for years, I think we’re now on the third generation of owner.

Nope, nothing wrong with wanting to retire, we were lucky enough to be in a position to take early retirement after Covid, best thing I’ve done and I can honestly say I’m busier now than I’ve ever been, but the difference now is I’m busy doing things I love, I can certainly recommend it.

Family BBQ (weather permitting!) plus and Open Garden visit (whatever the weather) and I might just slip out to the studio to make some all-weather bunting ready to add to my Folksy shop! Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

It’s lovely and the local people are very supportive of the shop which is great

Lady Araminta and Lady Portia hope the bank holiday weather is kind to everyone. It plays havoc with their hats when it’s wet, and emergency millinery isn’t easy to find over long weekends.

Obviously their lady in waiting :raising_hand_woman: will be attending to their every need.

They’re gorgeous and I totally get the fuzzy hair in damp weather thing!

I would get them little shower caps for the wet weather but I think they may object on the grounds of style

Having a break from decorating and painting ready for the new carpet, doing my first proper craft fair of the year - a very late start for me but it’s usually a very good one, so looking forward to it.
