Be careful where you buy your stamps

DH bought a record from EBay, should have been here by the 10th. No sign. Last Thursday got a RM note that a delivery was held up as insufficient postage. Guessed this was the record. Paid the £2.50 and let the seller know.

Delivered yesterday and the stamp had been marked as invalid. Googled and found this means fraudulent stamp. Dry good video on YouTube explains how to notice the difference. https://youtu.be/GVtTIHy8tC4

Messaged the seller, apparently his son bought them cheap on EBay thinking it was because no bar code.

Looked on EBay with the YouTube details and yes found quite a few illegal stamps in sheets of 25 plus.

This is so cruel and hope this chap reports the seller.

Yes, that’s a horrible thing to do isn’t it. I haven’t seen them for sale on eBay but I have seen lots of posts on Fb supposedly Royal Mail doing cheap deals on stamps. When you look it is a dodgy page. I have reported it several times but of course they just set up another one to catch a few more people out.

So annoying. They should be able to block the ip address. Perhaps the police should be involved.

Simple rule for the sensible buyer is
If it looks suspiciously cheap it is suspicious.

If something looks to good to be true - then it is often too good to be true!

The moral of the story is buy your stamps from the Post Office or a reputable retailer - it isn’t worth the risk.

I think his son was trying to be helpful and getting something cheaper as no barcode. Luckily he only bought 10 of the things. Has used them for 3 packages but not all post offices may be as careful. Ours was from Farnham To Lindford so would have gone 5rough the Portsmouth sorting office.
