Buyer has paid but not showing in PayPal

(Kim May) #1

Somebody bought on of my items two days ago and they say they have paid but the order status still says “awaiting payment” and the money is not showing in my Pay pal account. I recently changed my bank card and e mail address. I changed it on Folksy and I think I did it right but Is there some reason I’m not aware of as to why the money hasn’t gone through?

When that happens usually means there wasn’t enough money in the other person’s account or it could be they sent an e-cheque

It could take up to 5days to show in your account

Can you get them to forward the payment confirmation that they would have recieved from paypal? That would confirm that they have paid and they are not trying to pull a fast one.

Hmm. That’s a good point except that in their e mail they included a line from their bank account to prove it was showing up in their account as having been paid. It’s also odd that it shows my maiden name which was part of my very very old e mail address!

You say you changed your bank card did you update your paypal account with the new card? Although I doubt that would effect incoming payments only out going payments.

I would give paypal a call they are very helpful and give them the information your customer has on the transaction. Has your customer said it’s processed through their paypal account yet.

Have they no funds in their paypal account so it’s gone onto their credit/debit card is have they the monies in their bank to cover it?

Have they sent an e cheque as mentioned they take up 5working days to clear.

Hope you can sort it out

Sasha. Good thinking, will do that. Their e mail wa quite abrupt I felt. “Please deliver or refund my money” So I hope I don’t offend them by asking for more proof!

just let them know you need to speak to paypal so need as much information as they can give you as it’s not showing up in your paypal account. Let them know how sorry you are that something has gone wrong with the transaction.

They need to be re assured you are looking into the situation and are trying to help them.

Just noticed that the copy of the e mail they received said “Card payment to Pay Pal” I usually get an e mail telling me I’ve had payment but nothing this time.

have you checked your paypal account? Start there.

Changing your bank card shouldn’t make any difference to receiving money. And even if it was an e-cheque you should have received an email and it would show as ‘pending’ in your paypal account.

Did you change the email address you use to log in to your paypal account? Then you would have needed to change that on Folksy, and remember that’s the email address under your shop settings and not your profile.

Have you successfully received a payment since you changed your email address? Which would indicate the problem is not at your end…

As others have said, ringing paypal is probably the way to go, they are very helpful.

Yes, that was the first thing I checked. Hopefully it will turn up in there in a couple of days.
