Buying in NI with delivery to a UK address

Hi, is it possible for me based in NI to buy an item from another Folksy seller if I can use a delivery address in England (I have a sister in England whose address I could use for delivery and then she can bring it over with her when she visits), thanks

Might be worth dropping an email to Support to check what’s best to do - I think you can purchase on Folksy without an account so you might be OK if you just logged out and purchased the item as a guest, then you could give the UK delivery address. Or you might need to open another account with a different email?

I guess one way to avoid any doubt would be to ask your sister to buy the item, then you just pay her back. Unless of course it is a surprise gift for her!!

Yes it is ok to do as long as you put the delivery address as the address on the order. I did this last week for a customer but she mistakenly put her own NI address and it cost Folksy ÂŁ30.35 in taxes even though I posted to an address in England.

Folksy said there should have been an option to change the address on PayPal

I have a lady in France who orders znd send to her daughter in Gloucestershire with no issues at all.

I guess if the person buying is from NI, ie PayPal have NI address registered, and Folksy have NI address too, then it is an NI purchase wherever it is posted to.
That’s why I suggested best option might be for the sister in UK to do it all - ordering, paying, and delivery. Then it is clearly a UK purchase.

Yes you can do this.

If you’re paying by card (with Stripe) you get asked to enter your address details on checkout, so you just need to remember to enter your sister’s address here.

If you’re paying by PayPal, the address details come from PayPal. This can make it a bit trickier as sometimes people miss where you change the address on PayPal.

When you click to pay by PayPal and the page where you select your payment method comes up, look at the very top of this page and it should show your delivery address. Click where it says “change” and you should have the option to select from a drop down list of addresses you’ve previously used or to add a new address. You’ll need to add your sister’s address here.

I thought of that but I’d have to transfer money into her account which is a bit of a hassle and she doesn’t like writing reviews :sweat_smile:, thank you for the suggestion!

Brilliant Kim..I’m still upset over the costly mistake from last week, I now know where that address needs changing so if it happens again I can tell them where to look.
