Hi
Please help… so I haven’t been on here for years and recently came back. I have a folksy plus account and I know this means I can list as much as I want.
What are my folksy fees and at what rate are they charged? Sold a picture today and £2.40 was taken from my sale. Is this my fees and does that mean they are paid?
Also once again my folksy plus account says it is going to expire… yet I signed up for a year???
Anyone help please?
Thanks
Claire
How was the sale paid for? If it was stripe then both the Folksy fee and the Stripe fee will have been taken from the sale.
If it was Paypal then they only deduct their own fee, Folksy will send you a bill on the 1st of the month for their fee.
As for the Plus account, when did you sign up for it? I think there is now an option to just have it for 1 month, maybe that is what you paid for? It is £45 for a full year.
Thanks
Ummmmm how do I know whether it was stripe or PayPal… and I didn’t know there was a fee for using stripe… Now I am completely confused…
The plus account was about two months ago and I signed up for year via direct debit…
I have no idea now… my brain hurts
When I look at the ‘order detail’ on my dashboard it tells me ‘Paid with Paypal’. Did you sign up for Stripe? Either way go in to you Paypal or stripe account and find the sale. I always check in there anyway to make sure the money has gone in before posting out.
Probably best to contact folksy admin and ask them about your Plus account. We used to be able to click on that little Plus logo to see when the account expired, but that doesn’t seem to work anymore… at least mine doesn’t anyway, it just says it’s active! I’d like to see the expiry date somewhere on my dashboard, just so I know.
The stripe fees are for processing the payment, just like paypal fees. But I think Folksy take their commission at the same time with stripe payments - no idea why, but I do remember reading that somewhere when I opened my stripe account.
Hope you get it sorted.
Ok… i think I understand… bless you x thanks so much
Ahhhhh i am such a newbie… lol… think it makes sense now x
thank you x
Even though there are no listing fees ( other than the one-off, up-front payment !) with the Plus account , when there is a sale , there is still the commission fee that Folksy will charge .
If you go to ‘your shop’ icon top of home page , you will get options from the drop-down menu , which includes ‘Bill’ . From there you can view all transactions in more detail , and will tell you how payment is made ie, Paypal, / Stripe .
‘Stripe’ only became an option last year !!! so it’s likely ( if you haven’t been on Folksy for a few years ! ) you are not aware of that payment facility . Trust me , you’d know if you signed up at the time , it was a bit of a palaver !!! !!!
Anyhoo, I do wish you luck sorting . Finances are always a bit of a pain !!!
You cannot pay for the Plus account through Paypal, it is a Direct Debit from your bank…
I think I will edit my very unhelpful advice . Having paid earlier this year , I had actually forgotten that was the case , arghh ! so sorry Claire !
@AliDufty No your advice was brilliant x I do pay my folksy plus by direct debit x
You have been awesome x
Thank you
Thank you everyone you have all been brilliant … will now go into a corner and cry whilst I do maths x
Thank you x
Just to check the fees are 6% and they charge vat on the 6% that they take not the whole sale right? X
Yes, the VAT is just on the 6% commission, so total fee is 7.2% of the sale price.
There’s no commission charged on postage costs, just the item price.
Oooh thanks … I have no idea how you did that… but that’s brilliant thank you x
