Can someone please explain shop stats to me?

Hi lovely Folksters,
I have a question… when I look at my shop stats, it tells me the source of where my visitors come from. I put my stuff on pinterest and in these forums, but my stats page say that the majority of my visitors come from “miscellaneous” (which incidently isn’t google as that has a category of its own). So how are these visitors finding my page?!? If I knew, I’d be able to do more of it!!!
Any tips/comments/enlightenment on the stats below greatly appreciated x

Well, according to Folksy: “If it says ‘Misc’ in your referrals data, it means we’re not sure where the visitor came from.”, so nobody knows!

It could be that visitors don’t allow cookies or tracking? Or it’s not recognising their browser maybe? Who knows?!! One of life’s mysteries…

(Mine shows far more ‘Misc’ than anything else, so it’s not very helpful, tbh).

A lot of misc traffic occurs when the source tracking gets lost so the stats don’t know how to file it eg if someone is using a social media app and they click on a link the device has to leave the app and open up chrome to complete the action - the tracking gets broken in the switch from one to the other. So misc can include Facebook, instagram, pinterest, twitter (which can also show up as t.co) and links sent out in emails.

Also, anyone typing your website address directly into the address bar will be a Misc.

Very puzzled by the url at the bottom of your post. Why have you a Netmums link there ?

How bizarre - I have no idea!!! I just cut and pasted the stats from my stats page… Maybe that was one of the miscelaneous sources!
