Creating a folksy fri board help with images?

Hi,
I am trying to copy some images to add to a folksy friday board but it won’t let me copy or save any or the items from different shops?? Has something changed?
How do the rest of you manage it? Thanks for the help

I’m really interested to hear what other people have done about this because I’m sure there must be a better faster way than what I do!

What I do is copy the URL of the image I want and then paste it into a free converter to make a jpg file, which you can then save onto your own computer to make a montage. Here’s one I’ve used before: JPG Converter - FreeConvert.com

Hope this works for you or, better still, that someone else tells us both a really quick and easy way to do it!

On the iPad or iPhone, I hold my finger on the image and choose the option save to photos. On the iMac click and hold the image with the mouse and the same options appear.

The images automatically save as jpg.

Hi,

I use chrome on my Mac to do my Folksy Friday’s & always copy the image rather than the URL. I’ve never had any issues doing it this way!

Good luck

Cheers Lou

They changed the format that images are saved in so they are quicker to load, I can’t save them as jpgs on my pc anymore either. A (slightly long winded) work round that I found is to save the item to pinterest and then save the image from pinterest to my computer as a jpg. Adding the items to a pinterest board isn’t necessarily a bad extra step - that can be quite good from an SEO point.

Hi, thanks so much for all your suggestions. It was never a problem for me to copy the image before but I have a few things to try now. Thanks to you for your help. @SashaGarrett @WhimsicalBells @Caroleecrafts @thecrimsonrabbit

If you’re using Canva to create your boards you should be able to copy and paste the images straight in. If you’re using BeFunky or something else which doesn’t accept webp/avif yet you might need another step.

I normally use Paint Shop Pro for editing my photos and although that can’t open webp/avif files, it does allow me to copy and paste them in, but I’ve just checked Photoshop and that won’t, so whether that works will depend on what you’re using.

You can use a converter as suggested above, or because the filetype shown is dependant on which filetypes the browser you’re using can display, if you try on an older device/browser which isn’t able to display webp/avif files, they will show up as jpgs. Just using Canva is probably the simplest option though!

I knew I’d eventually have to give in and learn how to use Canva! :upside_down_face:

Thanks for the info x

Actually Canva is very handy and not that difficult to use. I’m suprised that it is free at the moment - wonder how long that will last x

I have never done one and sadly have no idea how…I only have a laptop

I’ve been having a better look at Canva and am keen to give it a try, but am I right in thinking that there should be a way to get my chosen images into the collage without saving them to my phone first (using the app)?

I’m afraid I’ve only used the website version, not the app, so not sure how different they are, but for me I just right click on the image, copy it and then paste it into Canva. That may be a bit trickier on a phone as switching between apps can sometimes lose where you were.
