My mum offered to make our wedding cake, which was lovely of her, I asked her to make it vegan, which I think in retrospect probably stressed her out majorly, as in 1988 with no internet she had to come up with a recipe by trial and error. It worked out great though.

Phew! Well, I don’t know how this took 7 entire days, but this is what I’ve been up to since last Saturday - chopping and straining honeycomb (I don’t have an extractor), the messiest job on earth! 48 jars and some tubs of cut comb, a monster harvest for me. A local farmer helpfully planted a field of phacelia and red clover within half a mile of the hives this year, so I think that’s what did it. Ready for a bubble bath now!!

Just saying but I think Brenda should be on the BS list, if done by sales not monetary value. Selling 1 item does not mean you are a Best Seller but quantity to me does. Just because something is low cost does not mean not worth as much as something with a hefty price tag.
Most BS lists are done on quantity such as books, items in say John Lewis or a supermarket. That is the terminology of a best seller, standard commercial practice.

Jewellery makers, can I ask you a question please. I’m making these teeny gingerbread men earrings this year and I’ve got these 925 marked earring hooks. Do you think they are sitting right? All earrings on hooks that I own sit more downwards but these kind of poke outwards if you get what I’m saying.

Sarah do you mean the hook at the back? I bought some once and they kept falling out, easy to bend back a bit.

Yes, they kind of sit at right angles. I tried bending the ear wire down a bit but then it looked wrong at the front! There’s something about them that doesn’t lokk quite right!

Looking on line they seem to have the same angle. Wondered if might be better to go for the ones that hook in. Think they call them kidney wires.

Very late to the forum today as we had unexpected visitors, been a busy day but trying to relax now!

Deborah @DeborahJonesJewellery she wants a chocolate cake and asked me to make it. She absolutely loves chocolate cake. Then the next week she said she might buy one. I would like to make it, homemade chocolate cakes are the best. However, I was thinking about freezing it so I’m not too stressed before the event, I said I’d try one out in the freezer but its been too hot to bake lately. I would decorate the day before so the ganache was fresh. But you got me thinking that I could do one layer ordinary vegetarian, one vegan and one gluten free. I could also practice the gluten free, I’ve got time and infact my OH wonders if he’s gluten intolerant as he can’t eat much bread, not that we do.
Carrie, @TheHermitsBothy what an amazing haul, I can only eat honey when it’s done with Baklava, weird I know.

Finally caught up with all the loving and news. Congrats on all the sales, and well done to you Brenda @teabreaks for reaching that milestone! You should be on the Best Sellers list! I didn’t realise it went by value of sales (never really thought about it), I thought it’d be quantity which makes more sense to me. It’s unfair to those of us with items of less value.
Very impressive haul of honey, Carrie @TheHermitsBothy - do you sell it locally? We have a beekeeper down the road from us where we buy our honey.
We went to see the new Alien movie today (Alien Romulus) - really enjoyed it! If you’re a fan of the Alien franchise you should like it, as it’s a similar formula to the original two, with lots of jump scares and racing to get away from them etc!
