Well the pop up is finished - ended up with a reasonable profit (although was hoping for a bit more!!)
Got a couple of new things ready to photograph and list but little chance of doing them this week as I have a friend arriving this evening to stay a few days. Hopefully next week. I think there may be a few people like me who have slowed down their making due to a lack of sales - when not making, I cant list every day and feel bad constantly showing relists so have to drop out occasionally. Hoping to do a bit of a destash soon and sell some excess bits and pieces.

Good afternoon
I 'm afraid I’m one of the regulars gone missing. I’ve been here probably as many years as Brenda but recently due to a lack of sales and interest I’ve become a bit downhearted with Folksy and making in general
I have a 4 day arts and crafts trail starting on Friday so hopefully my mojo will return
See you in August
Valerie

Your holiday sounded perfect Hilary @kokoblue
Good to hear you made a reasonable profit Roz @OrchardFelts Have fun with your friend.

I know it’s very easy to get despondent when sales slow down or are non existent, I’ve been there plenty of times myself and I think it’s even worse for us in the current climate especially during the summer when everyone is on holiday or about to go on one. I think it’s good to take a break from selling at times.
I personally don’t like my shop to go beyond 5 selling pages but I know it’s important to keep it looking fresh. I have actually hidden some items so I can add new ones. I like to keep working it keeps me sane. Except I can’t actually get to my workroom at the moment! But I have used my time to upload more items on eb@¥… which has taken most of today up!

I have over 600 paintings and cards. 450+ that are listed and the rest are waiting to be listed…I might end up papering the walls with them.
I repainted my garage door today…not as good as last time…I will take pics tomorrow when it is dry…I had to paint over all the flaky bits of paint…I am too old now to sand it all down for a clean surface… Standing, bending and stretching for over two hours will probably render me seized up tomorrow but it is done. …just a basic landscape…It had stood the weather test for 5 years and I doubt very much if I will be able to do it again in 5 years…I will be 82 then…lol…
Welcome back Hilary @kokoblue the holiday was boaring then…
someone bring me a cuppa, it is too far to struggle to the kitchen right now…lol

Evening everyone

Sorry was awol yesterday - just finishing my accounts. I’m glad to say that I made £1,000 more profit in 2023 - 24 than the previous year but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to say that about this current tax year!
I absolutely hate doing my accounts, it fills me with dread but I’m not at a point where I could justify an accountant.
Also had a run in with the neighbours to the left of me who we have had a mutually simmering resentment of over the last 20 years - I think it may actually be resolved once and for all - she even hugged me 3 times! (But I still spent the last two nights replaying the whole thing over and over in my mind) Woke in the night with a headache and then woke up this morning with an ocular migraine, so I think things are taking their toll.

I just came onto the thread thinkig it would take me forever to catch up but like you said, there’s not many of us on here this month, so it didn’t take that long at all!

Look forward to seeing your garage door Brenda @teabreaks - loved the last one you did.

My listing today is:

5 sales to report please Sue @SueTrevor x

Sales are low but would anyone be up for a summer swap shop thread?
I usually put a thread up at Christmas but maybe I should do a summer one this year too?

Sorry to hear you’re suffering. Makes me realise how lucky we are with our neighbours. We only have 3 neighbours and one of them owns our house :joy:. They are be a pain in the butt with parking at times (we have an access road (more of a driveway but it is an access road) that goes right in front of all 4 cottages with us being at the far end) but there’s never been any real hassle.

Hope you’re soon feeling better :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Sarah @dotterypottery we are so lucky here…24 houses in the road and we have been in every house. We have regular street parties and hope to have one in August, complete with a quiz, BBQ and Karaoke…and yes of course I will be singing…lol…
The garage door is finished…mostly the same as before but a bit darker.
Sorry about the picture but the evening light cast a shadow over it.

Looks great Brenda, hope it lasts as well as last time. @teabreaks

Having neighbour agro would really upset me. Thankfully we are half a mile from our nearest human neighbours, can make as much noise as we like here. We do have deer and sheep neighbours and a lot of hares though, wouldn’t suit everyone, but I’m pretty antisocial, so I love it.

Didn’t get around to listing, seem to have spent hours quoting for custom bangles today. Did get an order (not on Folksy) for a gold one, so not all a waste. Hopefully the others will get back to me too.

Your camping set up looks very comfortable Hilary. @kokoblue

We have wonderful neighbours, 10 houses in the road and all speak with no feuds. I am antisocial though, select friends carefully.
If someone upsets me off the friends list, life is too short for idiots in my life.

Your garage door looks lovely, Brenda!

I agree it’s quiet here at the moment. Maybe partly because some are busy doing other things/holidays etc. Also I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep posting, as I’m not listing many new things due to lack of sales. I’ve been copying old listings which have expired, so they can be loved again, which means I still have things to list here.

I’m doing an online market next month, which was successful last time I did it, so fingers crossed it’ll bring some more sales in August.

Morning all

Going to be too hot today, thought about 84, now 88. Have all the windows and casement doors open to let the cool air in, will close as the sun moves round and shut the blinds and curtains. This has worked before holing will work again. Have to keep the old mutt cool hoping he will be sensible today.

Have fun xx

Morning everyone,

Lucky you Max @MaxPringJewellery with air conditioning! I heard that in America people were sitting in their cars so that they could have air conditioning in the recent heatwave!
I tried to do some gardening late afternoon yesterday but it was too warm for me.

Anyway, the kallex unit is now in place in my workroom yay  so I guess today I shall be filling it up with all my work items and other craft items, if it isn’t too warm to work.
