LOL CAROL @Knittingtopia …I click on things and they are gone forever. ha ha
Sue @MinpinTowers what is a graphic design tool?..lol…I know what a graph is a I know what design is and what a tool is ( don’t go there ha ha)… Why would someone want one and what does it do?
@janetwilliamson your dolls are SO outstanding…I hope you can get them sold, although I bet you want to keep them…
Laura @caledoniankeepsakes …that still doesn’t really explain what Canva is…is it a website?. My laptop recently did updates and now I cannot download pics from my camera…although I have found a way around it but it was a real nightmare.
I have often resorted to youtube but have found that sadly these people talk in technical terms and don’t know how to explain things well. Last week, I lost the sound on my laptop and despite advice and help from lots of people and youtube…all it said was “your sound advice is not working”…REALLY?..clever that…none of it was any help…
THEN yesterday, as if by magic, it started working again…mmm…
I can’t even do zoom etc I have tried but it wants me to download scary stuff, so that is a NO GO.
Thank you for the inclusion Sue @MinpinTowers
All that said, I love my life and what I do…and the few pennies that trickle in help with the rising cost of living.
Joss @XStitcherJoss …remember how amazing you are and remember how many people on here are thinking of you…you will be fine…trust in that…big healing hugs and strength for tomorrow xxx
Valerie @valerie my son is arriving from your neck of the woods tomorrow…mad soul has entered a local Bike trial ( mountain bikes)…apparently 4000 bikes riding over mountains, cliffs, through rivers and cross country…I guess I get the washing on Monday…lol…sigh…but it will be nice to see him ( through the mud)…x
Congratulations on your first sale Jody - we’ll all be dancing for you as it the first sale is extra special.
A graphic tool in this instance is software you can use to edit image add text or a picture to an existing image. You can create, edit and share designs
Sending hugs and best wishes to all that need it today Congratulations to sales! Hoping the sales fairy continues to be generous x
Morning all, just.
It feels like a bit of a wobbly Wednesday for many, I hope things improve for all of you that are a bit jelly like today. I’m waiting for a call from the dr about my scan so I’m a bit in the jelly club too!
Brenda @teabreaks, as an example of what Canva can do some of the Folksy Friday boards have been made with it, it means you can add several photos as a single image. It also means that you can use the Folksy templates as they use Canva too. You can also add different backgrounds and images to your items. That’s just a snap shot!
Here’s my listing for today, thank you to Sue @MinpinTowers for helping me describe it!
Hi everyone. All loved up to here and I’m sending hugs to so many of you who are going through it at the moment especially Ali @Craftyali1, Louise @SandgateGlass, Mel @aquilacrafts and Joss @XStitcherJoss.
Lovely to see you back Pam @PCCrafts - I love Northern Italy and Lake Como looks beautiful.
Still on ‘Dad watch’ at the moment so no listing but I will keep up with the thread as and when. Have a nice day all.
I use Canva as a website on my laptop. There is also an app for mobile but I find that difficult to navigate. www.canva.com
It looks like this…
And I use it for everything including my packaging, here are some of my projects, some are templates provided by Folksy that I haven’t used yet…
Thank you!
Hope everyone is ok, hugs to those that need one x
LOL what do you mean by a graphic tool? do you draw with it? ( see , it gets more and more complicated ) Sue @MinpinTowers
HIlary @kokoblue I wouldn’t have a clue how to make folksy Friday boards…
I don’t even know how to do apps…do you have to pay for them? No one explains all these things we are expected to just KNOW.
Laura @caledoniankeepsakes …how does it help with packaging?..I just don’t get it at all… I buy a piece of paper and fold it around my items…lol…
Good ness Laura, I just clicked on the link and got bombarded with lots of choices…none of which apply to anything that I do…questions, am I a business, small business, teacher…??? Then I looked at YOUR page…all double Dutch…again, why is everything so complicated?..I am happy to take piece of card, paint on it, sell it and post it in a red post box…life its getting far too complicated for me but thank goodness at my age I am happy to plod along…xx
Speaking of graphic design, I don’t suppose there’s anyone here on Folksy who does logo design? I don’t need it actually designed, but I do need someone who can clean up the (hand-drawn and scanned) image, remove the background and make it into a proper usable file. I’ve tried, and it’s defeated me! I was going to try and find someone on Fiverr to do it, but if there’s anyone around here…
You can use photoroom to remove the background. Anything more than that is beyond me.
Afternoon all.
Hugs to all, as it seems nearly everyone needs them today!
A kitty drawstring project bag today
@TheHermitsBothy Canva is good for removing backgrounds and you can also use it to save as a png or jpeg. In regards to ‘cleaning up’, do you mean redrawing the image into a vector? Or just cleaning it? As you can use the magic eraser tool in Canva also, to remove messy bits (I do that in photoshop if there’s a crumb or hair in a photo).
Here’s a notebook this time (No guinea pigs or cats on this! Hehe)
Definitely worth asking on IG!
I’m with you when it comes to technology, Brenda @GweddusArt. It is just a completely different language - never just says “click here for this and click there for that” When I design items I just get out a piece of paper and a pencil! Currently working on quite a complex piece of patchwork for a friends Ruby wedding, incorporating their initials and a heart. For that I upgraded to a pencil and a piece of squared paper!
I’ve tried it on Canva, but the drawing isn’t solid enough (I’m guessing), so when I try to remove the background it takes out half the lines! Apparently you only get to do it once with a free account. I don’t know how to make the image clearer. I’ve tried zooming in and tracing over it with the pen tools etc., but it just looks terrible! Also, it’s just a sketch that I’ve flipped to mirror it, along with a text box for the name. I can’t get the three things to stitch together to make a single image. There’s a way to do it on Word, but not my ancient version. The ‘logo’ I’ve got as my shop profile picture is a screenshot, stuck on top of a circle I downloaded from a stock image website. It would just be way quicker to pay someone who knows what they’re doing!
I can help with that. If you can email alison@craftyali.co.uk with what you have I will take a look tonight. I use Adobe Illustrator to design logos so i will clean it up and send it back so you can scale it up / down and have a clear background etc
@Craftyali1 Ah, you’re a legend! I’ll email you just now. I know you’re busy though, so there’s no rush!
