As all the threads on blogging are 4-5 years old, I thought I would start a new one. If you have a blog, I would like to see it and read your entries. I think a blog is perfect to showcase other interests besides your craft and for me, reading a blog is the perfect activity in the morning while drinking my coffee. Let’s support each other by reading, commenting and sharing.
I will start with this easy art project for children. It was meant for Children’s Mental Health Week, but I think is perfect any time of the day or of the year, including the upcoming half term.
Yes but do not use it as much asI should. Did start to draft a post the last month but never finished it. Used to be part of a weekly blog hop but that died out and another changed so have had a rest. Did try to start a blog hop on here but I ended up hopping by myself.
Found when I did do it regularly my images with links always appeared on the first page of google searches.
I think I know your blog and I think I know which blog hop you mean. I am still doing that sometimes. I must admit, I don’t always have the time for blogging. There are times when I post something every week and then nothing for months. I am so busy with my day job that I don’t always have extra time for other things.
On the other hand, I love taking photos of all the creative things I am up to so they often end up in a blog post. See how it goes…
I don’t have the time! What with a day job, family, housework, Facebook, twitter, Pinterest, Instagram it leaves little time for making as it is. I need more hours
Hi, I have a blog and I love writing but it’s terribly sporadic as I either lack inspiration or am too busy making things. Here’s a link to the last piece I wrote. Ironically I’m not feeling very hopeful today!
I would quite like to have a blog facility as an option for Folksy sellers, to appear as part of the shop front. Has this ever been offered as part of the Folksy package? And would it help with SEO?
Thanks for your response Caroline @Caroleecrafts I know less than nothing about how to set up a blog, so I’m not sure what you mean by using blogger for a blog - is this a facility offered via Google? My original thought was that a personal blog would be actually part of each person’s shop ie a place to put a comment or two from the seller from time to time. But I guess if it was hosted by another provider, as this forum is, then a simple link on the shop would be just as good. This is all rather ironic because in my life before ceramics I was a freelance copywriter and alongside writing advertising and marketing material for websites, press, direct mail, TV & radio, I was paid to write online blogs mainly for big retailers! These appeared on the retailer’s own websites, and I guess that was why I thought it could form part of each seller’s Folksy shop. I was paid to write the copy, not deal with the technicalities so I plead ignorance!
Hi Judy,
Folksy already has its own blog https://blog.folksy.com/ so I am not sure that an individual blog for each shop is something doable. I also work as a freelance copywriter as a second job and I know what you mean about the technicalities as I still have a lot to learn, but in my case, I work for small businesses and I normally have the login details and post the articles directly there. In a way, this is what motivated me to have my own blog but also because of this, I don’t always have the time for my blog even though I love writing.
Regarding what @Caroleecrafts is saying, yes, Blogger is a platform via google and this is what I am using. Another popular platform is WordPress and I know that some businesses integrate this into their website, but not sure how.
It’s a very good one as we can learn a lot from these posts. Plus you can read the interviews with featured sellers which I love doing .
I have just discovered this post about adding Instagram stickers - I’m off to try this one. https://blog.folksy.com/2020/10/07/folksy-instagram-stickers
Thanks Teodora. Yes I also enjoy the Folksy blog, but my thought was for each seller to have their own as part of their shop. I guess it’s not really doable and wouldn’t appeal to everyone in any case.
I have a blog but haven’t added anything to it since September, I used to do more about my own interests, days out etc, but since the blog hops I used to get involved in finished I have just done a few Folksy Friday type posts. When I get the chance I’ll pop by and have a look at the blogs mentioned
