Some fab spaces here! I work from our tiny fourth bedroom. It’s a bit of a squeeze as in it there is a bed ( usually completely covered in fabric etc), a wardrobe ( contains more fabric ), a desk with computer and printer, and my work table with my sewing machine on and my overlocker underneath. Completed items are in storage boxes under the bed and on top of the wardrobe. I need to go downstairs to use the dining table to cut out. When we need the bed for guests I have to pile all the stuff from the bed onto and under my work table it’s a real pain, but at least I have my own space to work in.
even though I have the shed it’s 8x8 foot, so not huge, and I could turn the other corner into another work space, but I have a futon chair there ,I like to chill out in there as well I love anything seaside, I tried to decorate it like a beach hut . but like you I often go back and forth from kitchen and shed, if im not organised
if you can have one it’s so nice to be able to actually go to another separate space to work in. Mine is insulated, but I have to run an extension cable for electricity, not too bad, but wish it could be permanently installed, but could cost a bit. I saved and wanted this for many years, so when me and partner put it together (blimming hard work!) it was like a dream come true! but I just wish it could have been bigger, but our garden isn’t big enough, we didn’t want to upset the neighbours by filling half our garden up with one !
I am very lucky that my OH is good with a hammer and saw , he built this for me - originally it had a bike shed on the right , but I now have that as an office- packing area.
I am lucky enough to have my own shed/summer house. We were reading an article a few years ago about women who had sheds and what they used them for. I casually showed it to him and said “I’d love something like that” and the next morning he dug the base out! I love it, really does get me in the right head space to work, although in the winter I do prefer the sofa to crochet on!
I live in a two up, two down terrace house which seemed to have my craft stuff in every corner so ten years ago we decided to have the loft converted into a craft room for me. It cost an awful lot but was well worth it in the long run. The light coming in through my two velux windows is fantastic and I love spending time up there. Pride of place is the wine cooler which holds about 12 bottles of wine (essential to the creative process)!!!
The only problem now is that I ‘out-grown’ it and need to have a good de-clutter.
