Eori number query

Thank you for taking the time to explain this so clearly, I am much more in the picture now. I will apply for the EORI number then I guess I don’t need to do much else until middle of year when this VAT no. thing comes in, assume Folksy will tell us of the number to put on parcels etc!

Hopefully it will arrive soon, fingers crossed :slightly_smiling_face:

so I have my eori numbers, one for overseas and one for northern ireland
On the customs label the number is printed as I use online postage.
But I dont’ need a customs label for Northern Ireland so do I just write it on the postal label? I asked my local post office and they havent a clue, they just said I don’t need a custom label

Funny, because today I have been told I do need a customs label for northern Ireland, but they hadn’t got a clue what an EORI number was!
Has anyone sent stuff to NI recently, and if so can you advise, please

I sold to NI last week, I looked it up online and it said that if you are sending via Royal Mail, you don’t have to do anything different at the moment. So I purchased as usual by Click and Drop, everything still the same, no customs form or anything. I tried an address in Belgium to see if that had changed, and yes, extra paperwork needed. So nothing different needed yet for NI with Royal Mail.

This is the page where I found the info. Sending parcels to and from Northern Ireland - GOV.UK

Good luck, please report back! xxx

Soooo! The postie yesterday quoted me a price and gave me a CN22 to fill out. I applied for a NI EORI number. Today a different postie quoted a different price, and said I didn’t need a CN22!! I showed her the links to the government site. The post office site doesn’t have anything about it. So the outcome is she is going to look into it, and I sent my parcel off using regular post costs and a CN22 stuck to the back for good measure. Hope my Customer gets it.
All a bit of a middle really

Wow, that’s crazy. I realise that it’s all a work in progress, but you’d think that the post office would be consistent. I haven’t heard anything from my sale to NI last week, I hope that no news is good news.

That is always the worry, that it doesnt get there! xx

I have just received a reply from EORIgovt saying they want my VAT number, but I don’t have one.
I must be patient, but they don’t make it easy. Tea, I’ll drink my tea first!

I have recently sent cards to NI and didn’t put a cn 22 label on but put my eori number on address label for good luck. they arrived ok . but I am going to put a cn22 label from now on as there seems to be a difference of opinion , you would think the post office staff would know!

Apparently the post office is the agent for Royal mail! Not the same company!!
Did you have a vat number for your EORI?
