Error Message When listing new items

Hi, I am trying to list some items but I keep getting
“1 Error need to be fixed” Item Description contains the following invalid characters:

Ive checked everything in my description and can’t find anything that is wrong with it. I write my descriptions in Notes and then copy and paste it to my listing description. sometimes its ok others it shows this error. its taken me all day to add just 3 listing. am I missing something

Hi Carol. It’s difficult to tell without seeing the listing and error message. It definitely doesn’t like asterisks and emojis for example. Does it say anything in red under the description box when you try to save your listing??

Hello I recognise your name lol Here is a photo of what’s on the screen now.

Hehehe yes, it’s a while since I sold elsewhere
I can’t see all of the description but there’s nothing obvious. Usually there’s red to show what’s not right  Can you screenshot the rest of the listing description etc. Have you added the photos?

Ive ended up retyping it again in notes then copying and altering bits nothing obvious but its gone through now I am losing the will to live if I have to retype everything. Ive already changed lots of descriptions and I thought I could just copy and paste here as they are not from another site. I took out all dashes hyphens etc and it still would save. I will keep plodding on ive got 2 weeks to do it as I’m away lol.
thank you for your help. if it happens again I will screenshot the description xx

Could it be that the description is too long? I know when i’m typing mine in once i get to the max number of characters it just stops adding anything else i type. Because you are pasting it in from note it might give you that error message instead. Try copying it one paragraph at a time and see at what point it gives the error message.

Fab - glad to hear it’s sorted. I’m sure you’ll be fine from now on - probably just a blip!! I can honestly say I’ve rarely had any issues with listing on Folksy. I tend to copy and change an existing listing which makes it really quick. Happy to help though if you need it at all and Folksy admin are really helpful too. xx

Hi Sarah The others are around the same amount of character and some get added easily (well one did ive only listed 4 lol) I don’t know what it is as ive typed them up in notes copy and pasted into listing and then I get the error. The problem doesn’t seem to be from the notes as when it finally decides to go through ok it’s still a copy from notes. I will try the paragraph at a time and see what happens then.
Thank you x

Thank you Alison it will be something ive done no doubt lol. I am going to try another listing. wish me luck lol :joy: :joy:

Go for it…and good luck :face_with_peeking_eye::joy: xx

Still not working even if I add an almost identical write up it won’t save. This is what I’m am adding for the description …

Spring is in the air with this beautiful raw edged appliqued Daffodil Lavender Bag.
Can be personalised with a name (please use box provided) An ideal gift for Birthdays, Mother’s Day or a Thank You gift.

Placed in drawers or hung in the wardrobe, these little bags keep your linen smelling fresh and clean. They also help to deter household pests, and are particularly useful in protecting against moths. Also pop one of these bags under your pillow or by your bed to promote a peaceful nights sleep.

Squeeze your lavender bags every so often to rejuvenate the scent.

Made from a linen fabric with a 100% Cotton appliquéd Daffodil design to the front. Fabric choices may vary for applique. The Lavender scented bag is Partially filled with a high grade hollow fibre polyester filling and lavender flower buds and finished off with a grosgrain or satin ribbon for hanging.

Size approx 12cm x 12cm (4.5” x 4.5")

That is exactly as it is in the box feeling very frustrated.

In that write up you’ve got ‘’ in the other lavender bag listing you’ve got in. Try swapping the " for in.

Maybe not one of the other listings has " rather than in.

Maybe it doesn’t like the accent over the e in ‘appliqued’. Try taking it out and see what happens.

Ive taken out the accent over the e I changed the " to in nope I took the 100% out and still not accepting Ive checked all spacings and spellings at a loss to know why.

Ive just typed the whole thing out into my dummy listing on my pc and it lists just fine so it has to be something in how note formats the special characters. Since you have some lavender bags already listed could you copy that text as it is in folksy and paste it into the new listing then make an alterations rather than writing the description in note and copying it over?

That’s what I did I copied the last one listed and edited some of it in the description box for the new listing.
One of them listed straight away copying from notes so I can’t understand why the others don’t
I’m going to give it a rest for today ive been trying to do this all day and only have 3 listed the other 2 were listed yesterday. Thank you so much for looking at it for me xx

I gave that a try earlier and it’s fine with accents

Hang on I thought I would try copying it into Open office word doc and there were a few grey bit that I deleted then added the space copied the whole thing again and it listed ok it must be Notes doing something to it lol Will give one more a try and see what happens.

Thank you so much xx

Can you try typing into word or another format than notes. This is definitely unusual…and might be worth a message to @folksyadmin so that they can look at what’s happening in more detail. Don’t give up…it can be solved xx
